The above was attempted with another movie that I had watched multiple times before that update was pushed out, and will now not play after the fact.
I borrowed a Roku from a friend that would play 4K video just as a test, and the Roku would play those files without issue. It is a defective samsung app.
Your new logs stop after about 5 seconds of you hitting play. The app is still trying to load the file. I canât tell if there is a problem. Can you try again but wait about 30 seconds before grabbing the logs.
Are you sure your Plex server isnât trying to transcode the files, since the the update I canât play 4K, only because it now transcodes audio and video rather than audio only.
Ok, I see the same thing in your logs as I saw before. The app starts buffering the file and just stops part way through. I wonder if your TV is running out of memory. Do you have any lower bitrate 4k files? Iâd like to see if itâs the 4K or your 50 Mbps files causing the problem.
all of these files played perfectly though, before that update. You can even see the view count in the xml files that I included that I attached.
the app doesnât have any issue playing standard bluray or dvd resolution quality movies, i.e. 1080, 720, or 480.
all of the 4k content I have, I use the makemkv app to rip the 4k content from the disc and transfer those mkv files directly to the plex server.
edit: I did locate an older 4K rip that I had done a while back - Apocolypse Now - final cut, that is at 57 Mbps and it actually will still play without issues. The previous movie that I logged, that did NOT play, was only 45 Mbps. I just checked the initial log file and xml file of the first movie that I logged for you, and it is only just over 48 Mbps. Therefore, itâs not the bitrate that is the issue.
Interesting. So there must be something with the newer rips that the update didnât like. Can you create me 1 minute samples of the working and a non-working one so we can test these files. Check if they still work/fail. Upload them to google drive/dropbox/etc. and PM me a link.
Log into the server, via the browser, play a film on your tv then look type right your see a sort of spinning icon, click on that show dashboard. It will show you the film playing and if the audio and video are direct streaming or transcoding.
I attempted what you suggested but it generated an error even on the working file. Is there an easier/better way? I tried sending you a direct message with the error code output, but it stated you were not receiving messages
