Plex randomly jumping forward during playback

Server Version#: 1.16.4.1469
Player Version#: 3.105.0

I upgraded my server tonight, and now Plex on my Samsung keeps randomly jumping forward two to ten minutes during playback. I can’t watch anything. HELP

It’s not doing it so far on any of my other plex players, but every couple minutes it’s jumping forward on my Samsung.

Same here; updated Server last night and now crashing. TV shows latest app version.

I still had a beta version on a thumb drive, so I was able to downgrade and make the app temporarily useable again, but I doubt most people have that option available. I hope Plex doesn’t stall on a fix. It worked fine until yesterday when I upgraded my server version. Not exactly sure when the last Samsung update happened.

Not just on Samsung. I’m seeing the same issue on a Roku. Had to downgrade in order to get playback without the skipping.

And yet no response from Plex admins on this very serious issue. Other program admins would have at least acknowledged an error like this as soon as someone posts it. Why does no one at Plex monitor these forums daily and respond to issues, particularly after releasing any updates?

Same issue here…

Same here… =(

How is it even possible that such a showstopper issue gets through the release tests unseen? :worried:

Same issue for me as well, on the same server beta version as OP. Had to opt out of beta and roll back to 1.16.3.1402 and now it’s working again…

Same issue NVIDA Shield, web client and IOS works

… and nothing but crickets from Plex admins. How do we get their attention???One day they will learn that it’s INCREDIBLY important to acknowledge and respond to major issues like this immediately, even if they can’t provide an immediate resolution. Instead we just sit here without even a “we’re aware are trying to fix it.” Nothing is more damn frustrating or unprofessional than straight up ignoring your customers.

Enable the logging feature in the app. Recreate the issue. Grab logs from PMS. Upload them here for us to look at.

All of us? It’s happening across several platforms now. Do you not use your product on any of the platforms in question ? I’m happy to help, but I don’t know how to create or send logs from my tv. And at this point I’ve already downloaded because it was unwatchable. Maybe if you had responded quicker I would have been able to do that, but things here take days to get a response.

I don’t have a Samsung, but do not see this issue on any of the clients I do have. I’ll need the logs to check if it’s a client issue or a server issue.

For the Samsung app, there is a checkbox to enable logging back to your server. Then when you get me the server logs, it will include the info from your TV.

Others have said its happening in Roku and Nvida shield too. I’ve learned to save old versions for downgrading because things don’t get addressed.

I’m not seeing it on my Shield.

So when watching something, it doesn’t randomly skip forward? Have you tried watching an entire episode of something since the upgrade? Please, I’d like to help, but the link you gave me does not help me figure out how to find two-day old server logs specifically for my samsung app. Can i just give you access to them?

My Shield is one of my main clients. I have not seen this, or at least not noticed it. I can imagine a jump of maybe a few seconds, but jumping several minutes sounds really wrong.

The instructions will result in you getting a zip file. Attach that zip file to your next comment.

I have not seen this on LG UNO client or iOS

Server Version# : 1.16.4.1469-6d5612c2f

Player Versions# : 4.1.1 or 5.18

I have a Samsung, I’ll test after the Timbers beat Minnesota United ;^)

Can folks post the video format you’re seeing this issue with?
