Extreme networking N00b here. Please be gentle…
Within very recent QNAP (or Samsung?) firmware updates - the Samsung app can no longer find my 2 QNAP Plex servers. The TV sees BOTH as Connected Devices (same subnet) but the Plex app does not.
Here are the particulars:
Samsung CU7000 70 TV
QNAP TS-1273AU-RP
QNAP TS-251+
Both are
QTS 5.1.8.2823
and running
Plex v140.4
I have no idea where to start looking. I THINK its access/security related but I am out of depth on the subject.
Hey it’s a long shot but you could carefully power cycle all the devices involved from ISP router to your TV. This has been known to refresh connections that are misbehaving.
Would you be able to take a photo of any error message you see trying to connect?
Another thought is to use a Public DNS (Domain Name Server). When it comes to maintaining basic connections, and authorizing those, Plex is deeply involved over the network, and that requires a rock solid DNS. Most people use their ISP provided DNS, but around here we’ve found that the most reliable DNS are the public ones from Cloudflare, Google, or Quad9.
If your router is doing DHCP (handing out IP addresses), that’s where the DNS gets set.
Do you have any familiarity with these concepts? Would you be able to check that?
At some point we probably will want to investigate your log files after you reboot then demonstrate the issue.
