Samsung QN90 TV with Plex - Sound cuts out

Hi,

I have purchased a new 2021 Samsung TV (model QN90A). When I play many movies the sounds plays to begin with and then cuts off after some seconds or some minutes. I can fix the problem by deselecting Direct Play and Direct Stream but then then the video quality drops because it is transcoding.

My Plex media server is running on a pretty decent spec computer with a 10400 i5 with a 1060 GTX 6GB and 16GB ram, Windows Server 2019. Plex media server is installed on the NVME drive and the media is on spinning hard drives. The TV and the media server are connected via LAN cable on the same network, the problem persists when the TV is on Wifi too.

Any ideas? My old Samsung from 2016 (now in another room) work fine :frowning:

No replies :frowning: A bit frustrating that there isn’t very good support with a ‘paid for product’

I found sound help ( a workaround). Seems like this is a sommon problem.

Hello,

Try to desactivate only direct play. Let activate direct stream. I use that.
The video will be process by the TV and the sound will be transcode by the server on your pc.
