Samsung Tizen App Losing Connection During Standby

Server Version#: 1.43.0.10492
Player Version#: 5.93.2 (Platform 6) (App version 5.64.1)
Tizen Version#: T-NKLAAKUC-2301.1

It seems like the Tizen app does not handle recovering from standby mode correctly anymore. After some time of having turned off the TV (entering standby/sleep by pressing the power button) with the Plex app open, upon waking the TV the app will fail to reconnect fully to Plex. It seems like it enters an indirect connection state where streams are limited to 2Mbps. The only way I have found to resolve this is to hold the power button to fully restart the TV (and thus the Plex app). When this issue occurs it will say “Offline” in the top left. But even clicking my username and clicking “Reconnect to Plex” does not resolve the issue. I am connected via ethernet.

EDIT: As a side note, I tried looking for an existing thread about this but just found a bunch of threads complaining that Samsung is transcoding unnecessarily. I believe it’s likely they are also experiencing this issue, perhaps without realizing what exactly is happening.

Just happened again. This time I checked “Media server status” and it showed the connection was in fact indirect like I had guessed. I clicked retry and it went back to a direct remote connection. My account still says offline in the top left but can stream in full quality.

So the question is, why is the app not refreshing this automatically when waking the TV from a standby state?

Does your server have a static local ip? If not, the ip may be changing and the app needs time to realize the change.

It is a static IP. I didn’t have this issue on this TV previously it only started over the last year or two.

My Samsung TV and my Sony Bravia TV have both started doing this.
