Hi.
Strange problem. I have my TV connected to a local LAN which is on the same network as my Plex server. The TV is connected via a 5GHZ WiFi connection - at full strength.
Here’s the thing. The Plex client will only see my local server 50% of the time. When it doesn’t, it’s a case of going in and out of the app until it reconnects.
Occasionally, I have remedied it by performing an ipconfig /flushdns on the server. Issuing an arp -d has helped occasionally as well.
However, the TV has never failed to access my friends remote server - it hooks into that every time.
When the Samsung is failing, all the other devices on my LAN can access it as well as it being able to be accessed remotely.
It’s a new 4K TV and when it works, it streams 4K content without buffering or issue. When it doesn’t it’s a right ■■■■■■.
Plex is running on Windows 2016 Server standard and I use a dedicated HP server. LAN drivers have been updated, the server runs nothing else and all my smart devices are VLAN’d off. The TV and all other devices are untagged.
When the TV fails, the server is stall able to ping it. I’ver performed a Wireshark on the server whilst this is failing and the TV appears to not be issuing a command to the server to interrogate it. There is a difference in the packet capture when it works and doesn’t.
It’s really strange how it just starts working. I’ve checked everything I can and can only assume it’s a client issue.
Client version is the latest from the Samsung store thing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers
