Samsung TV Plex App audio cuts out

I see the same thing with my roku client. I get an error that the transcoder crashed and I have to start playing the content again disabling direct play.

Hello,
I have a QN95A and had the same problem. I tried different thinks.
Try to let active direct play but DESACTIVATE direct stream.
because if you desactivate direct play thats works but the image quality is bad.

Tell me if that resolve the problem

Downgraded my docker image using the tag pms-docker:1.24.5.5173-8dcc73a59, which resolves the issue.

Seems to be affecting the drop back from DTS decoding to an alternate format since Samsung doesn’t pass through DTS streams correctly.

I’m about to buy a QN95A and where wondering if this issue is for every user ?

Currently I’m using a FireTV stick in my old Samsung, is this a feasible workaround or am I missing something ?

I really want to go for the QN95A but if plex isn’t working this would be a major bummer.

Don’t let it stop you. It’s a great TV and Plex still works fine on it. You just may have some audio cut outs here and there that needs direct play disabled.

Thanks @Bunta Just checking a few more things then I’ll go for it

Note that Samsung TV’s no longer supports DTS Audio like the old one did!

That’s true, however how important is DTS(HD-ATMOS and so on) if it’s coming out of your TV ?

I always felt that DTS is for your HiFi system and if you only got TV speaker (plus soundbar maybe) then missing DTS support isn’t a big loss, as long as Plex can transcode I’m fine with this.

Well, lot’s of people have a nice surround amplifier, and want’s to use an HDMI with eArc between that and their TV

But was merely saying, in case it slipped your mind

Yeah, its a bit of a weird one with the new QLED that supports Q-Symphony soundbars (Which support DTS) but the TV won’t even do passthrough.

But since a Plex employee replied to the post, does that mean the Plex team is aware of this issue?

This has nothing to do with Plex, and not anything Plex can do with it.

It’s a matter of Smart-TV vendors doesn’t support it, and personal guess is due to they then has to pay a license to Dolby

I wonder how much such license would be, if the end user would pay it.

Thanks for your views on DTS

Sorry, that was my mistake - I didn’t mean to ask if Plex was going to fix DTS (That’s up to Samsung).

I meant instead:
Is the Plex team aware of the issue with Audio Only transcoding causing audio to drop out? Downgrading to an older version of Plex (Before some transcoder updates) fixes the issue.

 hahaha
i guess i’ll delete the thread i started the other day
had not seen this one  : (

i rolled back to the last working/non drop out beta and all the drop outs went away

afraid to try the new beta
i guess i’ll follow this thread to see if anyone is brave enough to try the new betas when they come out and see if the problem is fixed : ) : (

Same here on 55Q60A. Server version 1.25.2.5319.

Same issue on my new Samsung UE43AU8005KXXC from Plex server v1.25.4.5426. Works fine with DTS-HD MA but not with DTS 5.1

Just installed version 1.25.3.5409.
Tested on a DTS 5.1 encoded movie - the issue is still present. The movie plays for about 2 minutes then the sound goes away, the Plex app stops responding properly on pause/play/ff/rew commands and eventually displays ‘unexpected error’ message.
The TV is Samsung 55Q60A. Also happens on my other Samsung TV (8 series model).

Is there a fix ETA?

Still an issue with 1.25.4.5468
