Same issue here as well. Issue is only with Samsung app on the TV, working on Roku, Firestick, Android app and via the web.
I found out the issue is present in Plex for XBOX one X too. It just takes more time until it shows up. The sound started disappearing after 30 minutes of playback and eventually it went totally missing.
Had to use Kodi on the XBOX as a workaround. Neither Plex on the TV, nor Plex on the XBOX did the job.
Seems like a buffer/memory overflow issue to me. The XBOX probably has more resources (memory) than the TV so itās able to play longer until it fails.
I think the sound cuts come from the quality of the video part. Have you tried to change the quality just below āoriginalā on the TV client?
I have the āvideo stream transcodingā option purposly disabled on the server. The DTS audio always gets transcoded to AAC tho and thatās what (IMHO) breaks the playback.
Me too itās disabled.
Yes, when it transcodes the audio, there are sound cuts but there is a link with the video.
I will send some pictures soon to show my settings.
- just for information: my TV is linked with cable to internet. My PC is in wifi.
video settings:

If the sound cut:
sorry its in french ^^
You canāt limit the video quality when the server has āvideo transcondingā disabled I think.
Yes, its true,
Sorry I make a mistake. āvideo transcodingā is not desactivate at home.
Why did you desactivate it?
All my videos are readed directly āwithout transcodingā.
Thatās transcode only if a change the quality
Normally, you disable that option because you donāt want to fry your serverās CPU.
oh! ok. thanks
Ok, so I started using Plex about 2 weeks ago via Truenas to a Samsung TU8000 with wired ethernet. And just like everyone else I cannot get the audio to work as it cuts out every few seconds, for a few seconds. Most files have DTS audio somehow I canāt force Plex to transcode to another audio. Fully transcoding also doesnāt work since my server is not strong enough.
I tried both the Truenas plugin (1.25.3.5409) as well as a custom jail (which installs 1.25.2.5319). Both versions have audio problems on my Samsung TV. And because I only started using Plex I have no previous installs and cannot downgrade to a working version!
Any updates on a fix?
Did you try 1.24.5.5173 ? Iāve rad above that this was the last working version.
Would like to say Iām also affected.
TV: Samsung QN85A
Audio: Samsung Q870A (Sound bar, subwoofer, and rear bookshelf speakers)
The sound bar supports DTS. The content is 5.1 DTS-HD. The stream is Direct Play. All confirmed to work on another device without issue.
It breaks quite quickly and consistently.
How can we raise/escalate this formally? Sucks to splurge on A$5k worth of AV only to have issues a month in.
Just installed PlexMediaServer-1.25.4.5487 and the problem persists.
Although the changelog mentions something similar, the issue is still there.
In my case, the audio cuts off on AAC transcoding:

@dane22
Any updates from Plex would be appreciated.
I see many paying Plex pass users complaining about this issue and for now this bug seems to very low on the prio list.
same problem here
also, only on samsung tv, if I have multiple audio tracks, only one works.
itās been like this for months I belive
This is definitely not fixed on beta branch, for whoever was asking.
thanks for the updateā¦
Issue still extant, glad Iām not the only one. Looking forward to a fix
This is extremely annoying, hope this will get fixed soon!
Still here in 1.25.5.5492
