Scan Already Added Movies For Auto Collection?

Hi,

I just recently turned on the “Use collection info from The Movie Database”. Before turning it on I already had all my movies added to my library.

I have the latest version of Plex to date.

Is there a way to scan the library so that the collections are automatically created? So far, the only way I can get a collection to auto create is by adding a new movie to my library…and THEN it only adds the one movie so I have to manually search the movies that are in the same collection and add them by hand.

I must be missing something.

Any suggestions?

UPDATE

I figured out that I can refresh the metadata of all the movies and the “Collections” will auto detect them, however I have a lot of movies so that will take a pretty long time. Is there another way?

Thanks!

Refreshing the metadata of individual movies should work as well

Hi,

Yeah I found that out too. It would be a pretty daunting task though because there are so many movies and documentaries. I think the smartest thing will be to just hit the “refresh all metadata” button right before I go to bed.

Thanks for the idea though :+1:

Hi again,

I seem to be up against the same issue, however, now even after refreshing metadata either the entire library, or just single movie files, they newly added movies are not being added into a collection and I have to go in and manually add the tag.

Any suggestions?

That setting is from the legacy agent. I personally suggest upgrading to the new Plex Movie agent which is much faster at matching and allows for minimum collection size.

Thanks Big! That did the trick and is way way WAY faster lol. Kudos!
