Not sure when this issue started, but based on the lack of an entire specific season, it’s been a while. My instance had been including the previous six seasons of NCIS (2003), and for some reason season 22 (most recent) was not included, even though the media was visible, ownership is correct, and naming scheme follows the guidance for TV Series naming:
/TV/NCIS (2003)/Season 22/NCIS (2003) S22E01.mkv (and so on)
I’ve tried the Plex Dance multiple times (previously, the series was only named NCIS, without the year appended, and I’ve tried changing it back and forth several times during the Dance, but with no effect) and although the logs do show the instance is aware of the directory and sub-directories, it never appears in Plex. Following the first Dance, the series was removed from Plex (again, seasons 16 through 21 appeared and worked fine), but when I tried moving it back after, the series never returned. I’ve also tried renaming using TheTVDB ID in the folder name, but this also had zero impact.
As far as I can tell, this is the only show that this is happening with.
So, once again… naming matters. Turns out that a typo in the series’ name caused the issue. When I had added the first episode of the most recent season, the title was simply
‘NCIS 22E01’ instead of ‘NCIS S22E01’. To make matters worse, when I tried to solve the issue by means of the Plex Dance, it not only didn’t fix the issue, but when I tried to rename the entire series by including either TheTVDB ID in the naming or the year, I managed to copy from the wrong (typo) season and then make the entire series wrong.
After looking at different issues, when ChuckPa caught this (obvious) mistake, wouldn’t you know, the entire series appeared as expected.
Bottom line: follow the naming conventions correctly.
