Can we please get the Agent matching algorithm worked on? This is a bit ridiculous.

Based on that screenshot it looks like you’re still using the legacy (deprecated) scanner/agent combination of Plex Movie Scanner/Plex Movie (Legacy). Is that the case? You can check by editing your library and looking at the first two settings on the Advanced tab.
This scanner and agent combo isn’t being updated any longer as far as I’m aware as Plex rolled out their new scanner/agent (Plex Movie/Plex Movie) a couple of years ago. You should be getting nagged to update your library, at least when viewing it via the web or desktop clients.
I’d recommend that you backup your Plex data folder (make sure you stop PMS first) and then update your library to use the new scanner and agent. My experience is that it is much more accurate (as long as proper file naming and folder organization are used). It’s also a lot faster scanning files and obtaining/refreshing metadata.
If something goes wrong with the update you can always roll back to your backup. But I’ve only ever seen things go (badly) wrong when the library’s naming/organization are a mess.
Not sure if it will help, but try putting the movie in its own folder->
\\nigel\Multimedia\Movies\The Island (1980)\The Island (1980) 1080p.mp4
I have that movie and it matched correctly/automatically for what its worth ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

This kind of thing can also happen if
The cure for 1) and 2) is the almighty Plex Dance. To avoid them from happening in the first place, prepare the files outside of the folders which are “watched” by Plex.
3) can be avoided by either
