Server Version#: 1.19.4.2935
Player Version#: Latest
My Plex server has been running fine for 2+ years, but recently I was not able to locate my server, so I have reinstalled it. Now after a library scan, it is telling me frequently that my library is empty, or that server cannot be found. If the list of movies do load, I am not able to play anything.
Also navigating through the menus, either on web player or local app, it frequently says Settings cannot be found, or takes a really long time to load a tab. So I could not get to the logs unfortunately. If there is anything from the network console that could help, let me know.
I have a similar issue. Seagate personalCloud NAS. Was running Plex server 1.14 and everything was fine for years. Updated to 1.19 and have to constantly stop and restart the Plex server app (the NAS is running fine, I have to stop the Plex process). Sometimes even after restarting Plex, it won’t play and I have to restart again. I restarted the server several times too. Updated Plex server to 1.20 and have the same issues. It will play a few videos (TV show episodes) and then stop (media can’t be found).
I wish I could go back to 1.14. Plex is feeling pretty useless and I am looking for alternatives.
I’m so frustrated. V1.14 was fine but my Roku client said I needed to upgrade so I installed the new version. Ugh. Now Plex is basically useless. I’m back to using the Roku Media player to watch from my Seagate, but the TV episodes are listed by name, not episode number. Might have to go back to using iTunes to stream the media to my TV
Well, I was able to resolve it. On Oct 2, 2020 there was another Plex Server update, so I downloaded it. I first uninstalled Plex from my Seagate PersonalCloud (which deleted all my settings.) I then installed the update and everything seems to be working fine now. I watched a video, then later went back and watched another video and the Plex server was running fine. The tricky part was trying to get my Plex software to see the ‘new’ Plex server. I had to use my browser to go to https://192.168.0.1:32400/web/index.html to get to the setup screen. (you would use the IP address of your Seagate PersonalCloud, but use the port: 32400).
