Search Failure for TVDB entry with no episode data: ID=133519

Server Version#: 1.22.2.4276
Player Version#: N/A

Using the ID in “title” field as documented here:

Have used this many many times without failure, but search fails for 133519. I believe the reason is there is no episode data.

I won’t include logs as I believe this should be easier to simply run and log on the server of anyone who would like to investigate. However if the search works for you please let me know and I’d be happy to supply logs.

My question is, would it be possible/reasonable to allow the available metadata to be scraped from TVDB in cases like this, and simply leave all episodes as unmatched?

Seeing as how TVDB classifies that as a movie but IMDB and themoviedb classifies it as a TV mini series, you might want to try fixing match, click search option and switching the agent to the “The Movie Database” and then set the title to “apocalypse battle verdun” and that should find a result.

Thanks, yes you are right, that works, and also finds the correct episode data.

I’ll file this process away for future usage.

I guess the question still stands if there is no episode data in TVDB, and no data on other databases, whether the scraper can at least grab some metadata, but definitely the workaround you describe is the best option if available.

The problem is that TVDB classifies this as a movie and IMDB and themoviedb classify it as a miniseries. So, at least with the current agent, I’m guessing that since TVDB is classifying it as a movie, it will never show up automatically from a scan because the agent is essentially going to ignore anything classified as a movie in TVDB (it actually probably doesn’t pick it up because Plex is only querying the API for TV shows would be a more accurate guess).

However, with the new agent that is currently in beta, this might have gotten picked up since Plex is pulling information from TVDB, themoviedb and IMDB for TV shows now, so this would probably be under both (new) TV and Movie agents now.

A Plex employee would probably be able to give a better more accurate answer than that though. That is just going from my understanding having read the new beta TV agent threads.

Ah makes sense, thanks.

The problem is I’m stubbornly trying to have a library of “documentaries” and this may contain a mix of movies and TV shows. I’m currently solving this by separating it into “documentary movies” and “documentary TV series”.

I realise there may be better ways to solve this (eg using genres or similar), but for historical reasons things are arranged this way.

It sounds as tho the new/beta agent might make things a bit simpler, I’ll try turning it on and see what happens for my currently problematic shows.
