@Cfaxon

Are you using a VPN ? I am seeing to vastly different IP addresses.

24.x.x.x
and
65.x.x.x

Nope, no VPN on my media server or my general network. Everything worked yesterday morning, then I updated PMS last night and remote access hasn’t worked since

@Cfaxon

I have reset the certificate.

Please restart PMS.
Let it sit for a few minutes to sync itself again with Plex.tv

( it needs to setup all new credentials )

Got it working, not sure if it was the cert reset or not since I did so much in addition, including reclaiming my server and rolling back to the previous version. Thanks!

Hello,

Maybe this was missed so I’m posting it again.

I have updated my server to latest version and now I have insecure connection error and cannot access to my server via Web.

I don’t see Plex Media Server/Cache/certificate.crt either.

Same issue. Unable to connect remotely. Typically rely on UPnP. Stopped working so I also tried with static and port forwarding on my router. Same result either way.Plex Media Server Logs_2021-02-21_20-05-11.zip (1.8 MB)

Any suggestions? @ChuckPa

Hi ChuckPa,

I have attached my logs from after the certificate reset and reclaiming my server. Can you take a look and see if there is anything different now that might help resolve my issue with remote access?

Thanks!

Folks, Please give me a bit to catch up?

My apologies but I’ve been working all weekend on Synology and not been able to attend the rest of the forums.

@Mosquito979

I can’t really help much with Windows. (I don’t use or own any systems even in a VM) Your logs also don’t contain any certificate / secure connection issues.

The only thing I see in them is PMS trying to talk to one device and NAT PMP not responding.

@adavisaz

Your WAN IP from the router looks like it might be CG-NAT (Carrier Grade NAT) which is another layer between you and a real IP . Double NAT (your modem/router creates the 2nd layer) can’t be managed by Plex.

Choice usually is to ask the ISP for a real IP address.

Your logs show me active transcoding. I am not seeing any attempts to connect for remote access / secure. The sessions all appear to be active for the duration of the logs.

Might you be able to capture a PMS startup and the start of a session / you interacting with PMS before it scrolls off the end of the logs buffer ?

DEBUG logs, when transcoding, can hold about 5-10 minutes of elapsed time (default). We can extend this if necessary.

@Kuiperplex

Can you grab a fresh set of logs which capture:

  1. PMS startup
  2. You at the TV & starting the app
  3. You at a computer / laptop / tablet accessing using the Plex/Web browser app

After those three, wait about 2 minutes (let it sit idle)
then download the Logs ZIP file and attach please

Morning ChuckPa,

Thanks for looking in to my issue.
No hurry, Just look at it when you have time.

I wasn’t 100% sure how you wanted me to proceed since I need my Mac to control the NAS. But this is what I did:

Turned off all TV’s, the NAS (and so also PMS), and the router.
I’ve let it for a little while. Then started the router back up. After router started I started the different devices:

10:04: Started up the Syn. 218+ (192.168.2.165) (PMS will start automatically)
10:09: Started up the Plex app at the Loewe TV (192.168.2.167) (no server conn.)
10:10: Started up the Plex app at the Samsung TV (192.168.2.114) (no server conn.)
10:12: Started the Plex app on my iPhone (192.168.2.137) (works as advertised)
10:14: Started the Plex/Web browser app on my MacBook (192.168.2.1) (works as advertised)
10:17: Stopped “running programs in Dashboard”
10:19: Downloaded Logs.

Hope I did it correctly and you can find something.

Hi ChuckPa,

In the process of attempting to restart my server and get logs, I connected remotely and a message came up informing me that I was connected via proxy. The message suggested that I switch to allowing insecure connections and then I completely lost connection to my server. After logging on locally, re-enabling secure connections and rebooting, my server is now fully accessible remotely…no more RED X! For now, it seems my issue is resolved. Thank you for your help and I hope this might help others who are continuing to have issues.

Thanks so much! Seems like my carrier transitioned to CGNAT, creating the double NATing. I was unaware of this. I’ve since received a static IP from them and now everything is back to working as it should. Love Plex!!!
