Server Version#: 1.18.0.1846
Player Version#: 7.23.0.12806
EDIT: still happening on 7.23.0.12902

When watching a transcoded episode (couldn’t reproduce this with Direct Play naturally), when the buffer reach the end of the episode I systematically experience a 3 sec freeze in playback (quitte annoying). Following this if I seek back either with the -10sec button or using the seeking bar, the playback will transparently load the next episode at exactly the same offset as this one.
My guess is that the next episode is loaded to allow a smooth transition between episodes but the seeking of current episode is handled wrongly and using the loaded next one.
I made a video of this bug: at 1:04 we can clearly see that the episode is not the same at all (scene brightly lit, I can confirm it’s the next episode).
EDIT: because I noticed that this is not happening on every items I added a new video from another show where this is also happenning, and a 3rd one where this is not happenning to help you pinpoint the issue.
I think I found another occurance of this bug happenning here on bug n°4
EDIT: re-uploaded the database dump.
Thank you for your detailed report(s)! Logs and videos are very helpful. We’ll try to repro and fix but I can’t provide an ETA at this point unfortunately
Hello,
no worries.
As a developper myself I hope this won’t fall at the bottom of the tickets :).
I edited my OP to add more details in 1st video but also added 2 others.
Good luck everyone
theres been other reports here on the forum of these 2 same issues you decide for over a month now unfortuantly.
they are definaitly annoying regressions. i have also provided logs and videos showing these 2 issues in the past
There is a potential fix in 7.24.0 beta. Please let me know if you still see this issue.
this is not fixed in 7.24.0.13291 beta does exactly the same thing
I just tested on 7.24.0.13291 and I can see that the 3 sec freeze in playback when the buffer reach the end of the episode is fixed, but following this point I concur with @dan-the-man when seeking back 10sec, the playback still moves to next episode.
Thanks for all your work team !
I’m still not able to reproduce this. Now that the freeze is fixed, can you get me a new client log. This way there’s only 1 issue for me to look for.
FYI i provided Plex updated logs regarding this
the new video player in android tv beta’s, has this same bug as well
Thanks for your work. Here’s the requested logs. For steps and quality settings you can still refer to the video I made in the OP as I produced these logs in exactly the same environment settings.
If needed I can also provide you with the episode file in PM.

@dan-the-man I never encountered this in my Shield TV probably cause it’s Direct Playing most of the time.
A new beta was released to address this issue. Please try and let me know. Plex for Android 7.24.0.13466-beta Android (mobile) beta release notes
its not fixed in 7.24.0.13466-beta have provided updated logs
I’m sorry to confirm that 7.24.0.13466 beta did not fixed this.

Is this still an issue in 7.26? There a couple of fixes in that release, and I tried it and can’t repo, can you guys give it a shot and let us know if it still happens? thanks
You were right. Not happenning to me anymore on 7.26.0.14578.
@dan-the-man you concur ?
Thanks for the work !
By the way do you have a fix in the works for the unreliable scrubbing while transcoding ?
I believe that was caused by the same issue. Are you still seeing that?
you’re right rewinding doesn’t go forward anymore, but it does not really go backward either.
Ex: If I’m at 5:40 and I rewind 10 seconds, once the buffering end the offset goes right back to 5:40 or sometimes to 5:38. So not completely fixed IMHO.
I’m not able to reproduce that. Can you reproduce then get me the log from the app?

yea it is not occuring on mobile and tv anymore, as
they disabled the precaching of the next episode which has made this issue go away, but we will see if it comes back if/when they reenable that feature.
