I have used Plex for many years, but cannot seem to fix this small issue. On one of my hard drives, I have a folder titled “Plex Moves” and one titled “Plex TV Shows.” In the left-hand column on the Plex Media app where each of my connected hard drives are listed, each with its own “movies” and “TV Shows” section, I confirmed that the Movies one only has “Movies” selected as the type of files to be in it. The TV Shows one only has TV Shows selected as the allowed type of files.
However, there are two separate TV Shows (each has multiple episodes) that are populated in the Movies section even though they are only in the “Plex TV Shows” folder on the hard drive. The file type for those two TV shows is .avi.
How do I get them to remove from the Movies library and go back into the TV Shows library? I don’t have this issue with my other connected hard drives that contain individual folders for Movies and TV Shows.
Thanks for the assistance!
Please take a look at the Plex media info of the affected items.
Look at the folder location that’s shown for them, then compare that to the folder path(s) that has been added to the Plex library.
Here is what I found:
One of the affected items is a seven-episode BBC TV show about Oppenheimer - The Father Of The Atomic Bomb. Selecting “Get Info” on that item in Plex is image #1. Plex shows it being located in drive E:Plex TV Shows. etc…
In the left column of the PLex source library is the section I set up for Plex Movies on drive E. You can see that the only content type I selected for that library is “Movies.” See image #2.
However, in the Windows file list on drive E, I have a folder titled “Plex TV Shows” and another folder “Plex Movies.” The Oppenheimer series is in the “Plex TV Shows” folder.
So that is why I cannot seem to fix it because, the full seven episodes are in their own folder titled “Oppenheimer,” within the “Plex TV Shows” folder. But, that series appears in the “Movies” library of that drive; drive E (named Seagate Bottom for my reference).
What am I doing incorrectly?
Which may be one of the factors that makes them appear in a movies library.
But I’m pretty certain that you also have pointed the movie library to the “naked” drive letter E:, which is a no-no.
I checked the “Add Folder” tab and, voila, the “Plex TV Shows” option was in it. I selected the “X”, and those TV Shows were removed from the Movies library.
Thanks!
