I’m in U.K. with a Synology DS218+ with Connect duo tuner for digital ota channels.
The problem I have is when I record 2 new episodes of the same programme, on the same night PLEX does not name them correctly & therefore I cannot watch both episodes. I know the programmes have recorded as I can see them on the Synology file explorer. If I rename them on the NAS as eg: Coronation Street e01 & Coronation Street e02 then they play as 2 seperate episodes, tho’ the correct metadata is is missing.
Any ideas?
The only way to get around this is to create a new library (I called this library Soaps under the General section), and in the below pic in the advanced settings, you need to select the Personal Media Agent
Then when you record the soaps, select this new library for the location to store the recordings
It’s a clunky workaround, but it prevents Plex from grouping the double day airings
I’ve added & configured library library as you suggested, thanks.
Just gotta wait 'til next double, same day airing to test. I’ll let you know, once again, thank you very much.
The “Soaps” library worked but sadly the series link didn’t, there were 2 episodes of Corrie last night but second episode didn’t record.
Tomorrow there are 2 episodes & they both show in the schedule. Any ideas?
That’s sounding like an issue we originally had with this (and Emmerdale), the first episode gets recorded, but then Plex thinks the second is a repeat as they have the same name so it gets ignored
The only other thing i can think of is to check it is set to record new/repeat airings, and also in the advanced settings of the recording, limit it to ITV only, as repeats on other channels can confuse it
apart from that
Best thing is to get the log files so hopefully Plex can see the issue, I am not very good at reading log files, but if you look at it just after 8:30 tomorrow it should give the reason for the second not recording
look for wording similar to ‘skipped as already exists’
If it is this, then unfortunately it would require a fix from Plex
