Added a new series today, Super Friends, and wanted to use The Movie Database episode order as it combines multiple stories into single episodes where TheTVDB does not. However, when using the MovieDB Aired as the series metadata provider, no season or episode metadata populate, they’re just “Episode 1” etc.
It’s probably worth having a look at your server logs – I’ve just created a fake entry for the show in my library and changed the episode order as per your description… those seem to be showing up as expected in my library (with episode thumbs, titles and descriptions etc.).
Sounds like there might be an issue preventing Plex from obtaining the metadata or something going on with your database.
Just for clarification – when you add the files, can you check Get Info → View XML from the context menu of the show’s episodes? Does that XML show a grandparentGuid attribute, with a value staring with plex://show/?
Looking at your picture, the image you have of TMDB (aired) is incorrectly showing episode information from Season 9 as Season 1, and I’m also now seeing the same issue on my end (after a few metadata refreshes). Seasons 2-9 are still showing no metadata on my end.
On the episodes, I’m seeing grandparentGuid is “plex://show/5d9c082508fddd001f293786”
Maybe correcting the TMDB link correct helped fix TheTVDB DVD order as well somehow?
I’ll still keep an eye out on the TheMovieDB order over the next few days to see if that updates, as they did say it could take a few days for the Plex metadata agents to process.
