Server is a Mac mini, late 2012, running macOS Catalina 10.15.7
Sometimes when I am watching video on the LAN, the server app on the Mac just quits. I can’t discern a reliable pattern to when it happens. It began several weeks ago, but there had been no change to the setup to pin it on. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app from a fresh download, to no avail.
It will sometimes happen when I pause and then restart playback on the iPad.
It will sometimes happen when I try to skip to the next episode of a TV show mid-playback
It will sometimes happen when I open the app and click “resume” to continue an episode I previously paused
So it seems like it doesn’t like having playback interrupted. But only sometimes. And maybe only for some specific files. One particular mkv file causes it to quit every time.
It also sometimes happens when I open the web GUI on the server and try to access the settings. I can open the server app, and open the web GUI to the “select user” page.
It will sometimes happen when I select user
It will sometimes happen when I click the settings icon
But not always
When it happens, the iPad player will sometimes just spin indefinitely, and sometimes it gives a message that the “connection with the server was lost.” If I watch the server monitor, at the moment I click “play” or “resume” the little dot next to the app icon in the dock just disappears, as does the icon in the menu bar. The server doesn’t give me a pop-up; it just looks like the server app quit.
Any ideas?
