I’m using Roku Premier to stream remotely from a friend’s server. I keep getting this error: Your connection to the server was not fast enough to stream this video. My Internet connection is great, my WiFi connection has no problems, and the app is the most recent (as far as Roku is concerned). Seems like all the other posts are about servers and not remote access. Any help is appreciated.
Have you continued checking that communication bucket-chain beyond your own internet access? If you’re streaming from a friend’s server… the most likely bottleneck is this friend’s internet upload speed.
You might need to check an alternative root cause. Plex clients usually only notice that they’re not fed with data fast enough but can occasionally not distinguish if this is because of some network issue or another issue. Such an other issue could be your friend’s server not being strong enough to transcode the media you want to play in real-time.
Hence… if you have no restrictions on your data plan – double check your client settings for remote video quality and try to set it to original or maximum quality. This could help avoid unnecessary transcoding.
