Server keeps crashing - 1.22.2.4264

Another release was just posted - 1.22.1.4275-48e10484b.

I’ll be testing this and see how things turn out.

lol… installed less than an hour… already crashed. I give up man, this is such a waste of time. Anyways, here’s my logs!

Would have been nice to see all the logs and not just rollover #2

Does this mean I need to install it again? Can you specify which logs you need? I’m not sure what you mean when you said “rollover #2”.

Does this help?

Plex Media Server.4.zip (976.1 KB)

can you please update to it 1.22.2.4276. If the icon is still in task tray then it sounds like a deadlock rather than a crash. There is a fix for deadlock in that version.

Jay,

you’re giving me single log files. that’s not helping.

Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs

gives a full ZIP file.

This is what I need.

FYI, did you install 1.21.1.4275 or 1.21.2.4276 ?

Update : I think I’ve fixed my plex crashing problem and it was unrelated to plex. I had a small DHCP issue with my USG and Pi-Hole and now I’ve had 10 hours uptime and everything is running much faster. Obviously I’ll need to keep an eye on it because I did get a 16 hour uptime stint before I fixed the DHCP issue but I have a feeling this is what was causing the problem. I don’t know if you’ve looked down the route of network troubleshooting but if DHCP problems cause these plex crashes with no logs you might have a similar problem to me

I installed 1.21.1.4275, public. Not Beta. Should I download the logs again now, even though I’m running on 4163?

I’m not running DHCP. All devices are running static IPs.

Most of my devices are static as well but I still have a DHCP range active for wireless clients. The problem I had is that one of my VLANS was in a DHCP loop with the pi-hole and the gateway but in theory it shouldn’t have affected the other VLAN where the plex server is, but low and behold plex is running like it used to on my old server. I just thought it worth mentioning as my problem seemed identical to yours, get a few hours uptime then plex just is not running anymore. If I were you I’d get your server onto a different network temporarily just to see if you get uptime at least then you’re ruling our network problems.

Jay,

Which are you using? 4163 or 4275 ? I thought you were 4275 ?

I was using 4275, but then I went back to the most stable version before all the updates, which is 4163.

If you’re stable there. then stay. I would like to enjoy at least some of the holiday

are you suggesting that the beta version will resolve my issue? If so, I can try it, then backtrack if need be. I typically stay away from beta since I’ve had issues in the past, but if you think it will resolve my issue, I’ll certainly try it. Holiday? April fools… I assume?

today’s train wreck in the build system was NO prank.

It’s nearly midnight EST and I’m still here UNDOing damage. I’m NOT a happy camper right now.

Which specific issues don’t give you grief when running 4163 ?

It stays accessible, users are able to stream without issue. The latest releases stop allowing me to access plex after an uncertain amount of time. I’ve seen it happen after 1 hour, or 4 hours., it’s very inconsistent. Plex continues to run in the systray. In order to access plex again, I have to manually end the task in task manager, then start it again. Once that is complete, it’s accessible once again. It’s been happening ever since the new hubs were introduced. We loosely use the word “crash” but it never actually crashes, just becomes inaccessible. I am using Windows Server 2019, and other than the recent releases, plex has been running smooth for over a year on this windows build.

I gave two sets of logs and nothing?

@Napjeeper

No. Between what you and others captured made it possible for me to find it and get it to Engineering to be fixed and turned around right away.

Please forgive if I’m cranky but i’m tired. 12:50 am and STILL cleaning up.

Update : I’ve had 24 hours uptime now and everything is running perfectly. I would urge people to triple check their network settings if your Plex process ends with no crash logs.
