Server Not Accessible Remotely for 2nd User Only

I’ve set up 2 users, and given User 2 access to various libraries of the main user. Plex is installed on a Synology NAS and accessible remotely for the main user only, when I try to access the server via User 2, I get the message “The server is currently not available”.

Any thoughts appreciated to give User 2 access remotely.

Any troubleshooting needed to be done on this is going to require the log files for the server, and more information on how you have remote access set up. Can you see the server when you are remote with the main admin account? If not, then it’s likely not just that user, but a complete remote access problem.

You can find the logs by reading this: https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200250417

Pay particular attention to the parts about port forwarding, as this is becoming a major issue lately. Most home routers have issues with uPnP and NAT set ups, so forwarding ports is almost a requirement for consistent remote access. (This is a server application, so needs to be treated as such on your network, so port forwards are the only way to set it up, IMO .)

Ports are fine. Is there a limitation on users other than the primary user? Does primary user have more functionality in this regard?

Thanks

The second user must first accept your invitation for the sharing.

If he did this already, try as a test to switch off ‘Secure Connections’. Then restart your server and wait 5 minutes.
If he is now suddenly able to connect, he must use the public Google DNS servers (8.8.8.8 and/or 8.8.4.4) in his router, instead of the one supplied by his ISP.

I’m talking about “User” not “Friend”.
