Server not finding new material during scans (1.13.4.5271)

When I run scans new content is not being added (everything else is working fine) there was an update to the server a couple of days ago ((1.13.4.5271) however I’m not sure whether the problem is a consequence of that, though it does seem like it might be related.

Just for info - all drives are mounted and available - and all content is playing fine, am able to make changes to the database (as in edits). I have moved my database to SD card (which has 10gb of free space).

Any thoughts appreciated.

Same issue 1.13.4.5271. Synology NAS. Selecting “Scan library files” no longer does anything since the update. The button does a quick flash but no update

Same problem, i run Plex server on Windows 10

Just to add a little more information - I also have a server running on a NAS (Seagate personal cloud) which has recently updated to 1.13.4.5271 which doesn’t seem to be having any problems scanning. This server holds a subset of my video files (about a third less than the Shield TV)

Glad I’m not alone - hoping there might be a solution soon.

Same issue with my Nvidia Shield Plex server since yesterday.

same issue here

Same. Thought I reached a limit on MKV library (again). Tried new (small) libraries, MP4 files, rebooting all components, etc. Copied backup from Shield Backup Directory (/storage/emulated/0/Plex Media Server/Database Backup) in case something larger was a problem on my system. And did screenshots of all (advanced settings) server configuration and TV Recording settings. Was considering setting up a new Plex server on a second Shield to test / compare, but decided to Uninstall updates, Clear data, Clear cache, etc. etc. and just start over. I am so glad I checked here before starting. Should have done that a few hours ago.

High level test results, if this saves someone some work:

  1. Shield Plex Server - Data on WD Drive (s) attached to network Synology RT2600AC router - No longer updates after “Scan Library Files” as of 7/21/2018
  2. Shield Plex Server - Data on network Windows 7 PC drive - No longer updates after “Scan Library Files” as of 7/21/2018
  3. Windows Plex Server (on same Window 7 PC and using same (local in this case) drive as #2). “Scan Library Files” continues working as expected , no issues with data drive source files.

Expecting the Plex Team will address this promptly, does anyone know how / where an issue update / resolution will be communicated or posted.

Thx …

Same Issue Here.
All new movies & Series added to my external 3TB Hard drive connected to my shield is not showing on Plex after updating the libraries. This happened after last PLEX SERVER Update

Wasted all day trying to get a new Shield setup and working. Plex wouldn’t scan anything in on 2T drive connected to it. I finally gave up and returned the Shield, had no use for it other than to make viewing media easier for my dad. It became more trouble than it was worth. Will just keep using the old RELIABLE WDTV Live.

Same here on my Shield, luckily I hadn’t updated my Synology PMS, that’s still working fine on Version 1.13.4.5251

Same problem here, although Music library is working fine. Linux.

Same issue here, Shield TV. I tried rolling back the update, but nothing changed.

Same here on shield tv , i lost all my library and start again from scratch … but i have to wait for the fix to start over …

When can we expect this problem fix ???

I just received a Shield updated the server, connected a 2TB WD USB drive which mounts correctly, I can create/delete libraries which appear in the Plex app on the Shield but nothing is ever found. I can tell the app to scan and the LEDs on the disk flash for a few seconds, then nothing. Because this is an initial setup, it’s not that it’s simply not finding new content, it’s not finding anything. I wonder if my problem is the same as the one being reported here or something completely different.

I don’t need google assistant or home automation in a media player, I already have all that thru Alexa and other integrated devices. I also have my plex server running on my old desktop with an i5 and 12gb ram looking at 32TB of my personal media.

I needed an easy to use standalone media device that could be easily taken between homes, on cruises, and in hotel rooms for my parents during their retirement.

This is just Nvidia’s loss and yet another bad mark for Plex as their product has been spiraling downhill for the last few months, with fubarred (being nice because of the censors) updates to android, iOS, webOS and now nvidia that nobody has requested, while the leadership of Plex act like cowards ignoring everyone asking for answers or simply to put out a stable working version.

Any update from the devs regarding this. It has been a week since this topic was posted an no acknowledgment.

It’s been fixed, check for an update

yes for the Nvidia Shield a new build was made available
See Plex Media Server - #227 by timwoj

A new build of 1.13.4.5271 was released for the Nvidia SHIELD. It fixes a build issue that was breaking scanning of TV libraries. There are no other changes in this release.

For anyone not using the Nvidia Shield, please raise a separate forum topic with logs

Had the same problem. Was forced to uninstall (removing 2GB of gallery data) and build all over again from scratch. Unbelievable. The tagging, match fixing, and changing of posters will take me DAYS to fix. Is there a way to backup and restore data after uninstalling/reinstalling to safeguard a bad software upgrade in the future?

yes griebs you have to backup the plex server folder; that is a pain in the ass seriously. ive had to do it plenty of times. i updated to the new version and im having the scan issue; it will update tv shows no problem but movies it wont. something is definitely wrong. i’m going to have to go back a few versions and wait months for a better update. was on Version 1.13.5.5291 ; have to go back now few versions; straight ridiculous.
