SHIELD Plex Media Server suddenly stops searching for content automatically

since a few days the plex media server no longer searches automatically for new content. i have to rescan the individual media libraries via the plex web app. Is this a known bug, has there been an update or do I simply have to change something?

Exactly the same for me. Recorded TV library works OK and picks up media automatically but personal libraries have the issue and a manual scan picks the media up. The settings have remained unchanged for the past year or so and are set to detect automatically.

I didn’t changed anything. My Plex Media Server is v1.41.0.9018 and the Shield Version is 9.1.1(33.2.0.157).

I have the exact same problem. Automatic scans that worked just fine before are no longer working. I’ve tried restarting the server and the device it’s running on (Nvidia Shield) multiple times but it hasn’t worked.

Essentially, every time new media is added or deleted I have to manually trigger a scan from the settings page. I don’t exactly know when it started but it’s been like this for almost a week.

Yes, that’s what happened to me too.

Same for me. It worked perfectly until now

Shield Version : 9.1.1(33.2.0.157)
Plex Media Server en shield : 1.41.0.9018

What happened ?

Is it possible that this is a bug because of an update which will be fixed soon?

We need help here please :smiling_face_with_tear:

@FordGuy61 Can you help us please ?

I have this problem on my SHIELD as well. The server logs don’t yield anything useful, as far as I can tell. Makes me think that the process that triggers the scan just isn’t being started at all

Same here it’s been driving me mad! I also have an hourly scan configured as it’s using an SMB share and that’s no longer working too! The Backup of the Database is still working so the schedule is running!

still no solution or answer from the developers?

Yeah same here. Started a few weeks back and no amount of restarting the device fixes it. Annoying I have to manually search through the browser to update my library.

as a plex pass member, is it possible to at least get an official response? Has our problem been seen by the developers? Is it up to Plex or Nvidia to correct this problem ?

Because here we just get the impression that nobody cares, even though we’re paying for a service.

Just found this thread. I am having the exact same issue, I have to manually go in and scan the library in the dashboard to detect new changes.

I think this started happening in August.

Not using any legacy agents. Just the Default Plex Movie Scanner and Agent.

I was hoping this would be fixed by PM-2038 (Plex Media Server - #652 by gbooker02) but I just checked 1.41.2.9200 on the beta channel and sadly it is not :frowning:

I assume they are probably not going to acknowledge that this is an issue but I do hope they fix it in an update soon (4 months onging now). While it doesn’t render plex useless it’s just really annoying to scan your library manually after adding a new episode or show.

Hi,
Could you just tell us if someone from Plex is taking our requests into account? The problem has been reported one month ago but no one from the team has replied. It’s really frustrating. Thanks

No reply is really disappointing. Like to have some idea of whats going on.

maybe a christmas miracle will bring an answer :face_with_raised_eyebrow: it’s really unprofessional of you not to answer questions asked by customers.

I got tired of waiting for a fix and went out and bought a mini PC running Ubuntu Server as a replacement and haven’t had any issues since. Looks like it might be an Nvidia SHIELD specific issue. The mini PC was a significant upgrade over the SHIELD btw, and I highly recommend it if you can afford to do so
