Server not powerful enough live tv but local 4k ok

Player Version: 9.6.1.34323 (8134dfe6) Firestick 4k MAX
Server Version: 1.27.2.5929-a806c5905

So I can transcode/encode fine up to 4k down to 1080p just fine on my Synology for my personal content however when I try to view any Plex “live tv” or Plex movies, I always get the server bot powerful enough message. Server is obviously powerful enough. Any playback settings on Plex player for video quality do not matter.

Fire stick 4k max and fire stick 4k both have the issue. I can watch on my iPad/iPhone/MacBook with zero issues the same content. I can watch trailers for personal content. It’s just the fire stick and also roku tv app I can’t watch Plex content. I have had this issue on windows since before switching to Synology. I have been able to watch some Plex content here and there in the past two years but usually 90% of the time I get the server not powerful enough message.

In the Plex app under settings on your Firestick make sure Transcode Interlaced is turned OFF.

I don’t see that option on the fire stick.

Load Plex. Go to settings. Scroll all the way to the bottom to Advanced. Scroll all the way to the right after Enable I/O cache.

Transcode Interlaced is not there on the firestick.

App version 9.6.1.34323 (8134dfe6) Firestick 4k MAX
Synology player version: 1.27.2.5929-a806c5905

Getting these errors from the firestick device when trying to view live content:

When viewing on my iPhone immediately after I do not get errors and it plays the live content no issues.
It looks like the Firestick player is missing the start command for live tv in the player XML.

I use Nvidia Shield and i have the same error. Current version

Suggestions?

Do you have the “Transcode Interlaced” option on plex player on the shield? If so try to turn it off and see if it works. Also, check your server for logs to see if you get the above XML error when trying to play live tv. IMO sounds like the XML config has a break somewhere around the array for live tv at least on the firestick app config.

I have both Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 and FireStick 4K Max.

I am not having any playback issues on a little DS418 (ARMv8 box).

May I please see some DEBUG log files which capture the start and first 20 seconds of a failed playback session?

(Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs)

What logs do you need from the download? It looks like there are a ton from the last few months in there.

Settings - Server - Troubleshooting - Download Logs makes a ZIP file.

That’s what I need. It’s setup such that it’s easiest for both you and me.

By default, the logs, when ZIPped, are about 5 MB. This is well within the forum’s limit of 30 MB

May I have all the logs please?

What you gave me is a bunch of this:

That tells me nother other than you have a certificate problem with one of your devices.

What is at 192.168.1.147 ?

You can also turn off IPv6 in Settings - Server - Network. Your LAN is IPv4

147 is my laptop and 195 is the fire stick. I can stream Live tv from my laptop Plex app no issues (didn’t try web app). There have been cert issues every time I update Plex server since about March? Time frame however everything else works ok on Plex but live tv and Plex movies once it’s up and running again. Local content is fine.

The rest of the logs go back to 2021 and shouldn’t be related to this live tv issue that I can reproduce right now today. I also can’t pm you the bigger zip, seems like pms blocked.

@BigSlimVdub

I’ve sent you a PM for your logs.

So it appears in order to get streaming plex content (not local) you need to turn off the “automatically convert” under the video settings tab as plex content is not transcodable only direct playable. For local content, I need to turn it back on in order to avoid buffering of local wifi played content.
