Server not powerful enough to convert video

Player Version#: 4.17.1

There is an issue that on the new Samsung TV (QE55Q70RAT) and Plex Player 4.17.1 I get the error “This server is not powerful enough to convert video” and most of the movies are not working, if not all.
BTW: I have Player Version#: 2.013 on my older Samsung TV (UE46ES7000) and all movies are ok. Everything works and is played.
In such a case I do not think it’s an issue with my NAS server which is Synolology DS216play.
What is the issue then with 4.17.1 or how can I downgrade to 2.013 on my new Samsung TV ?

I think newer samsung tv do not support DTS.

If you have subtitles enabled + audio transcoding, this makes the video transcode too.

As far as plex versions, it sounds like the 2 tv are different apps (tizen vs whatever), you cannot downgrade one to the other.

I found that new TV does not support DivX and DTS. Why Samsung disabled that? What shall I do now with my movies library? I complained already to Samsung. This is blocker for me to use this TV !

your only options are

  • upgrade your server so it can transcode
  • return the tv get a different one
  • buy a shield or other streaming box (roku4k or appletv4) that doesn’t need transcoding

Exchange for LG OLED and be done with it.

DTS costs license fees and DivX is ancient.
