Server settings are unavailable

I recently noticed that metadata was no longer loading for new media I added to my server. When investigating why, I quickly noticed I couldn’t access the server settings, I would just see “Server settings are unavailable” on that page.

I’ve tried a lot of things I found in posts online - specifically this post Server Settings Unavailable about the same issue (although my server is running on a Windows computer not a NAS). That article links to this page https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/ which I followed and deleted the registry keys it mentions.

I’ve signed out and back in many times from the local server (127.0.0.1:32400/web), uninstalled PMS entirely a couple of times, and deleted those mentioned registry keys. All of these things in number combinations all to no avail. I still can not access the server settings. One curious thing I noticed is after the first time I deleted those registry keys, they never show up again.

What could I be missing, or what else should I be doing to restore access to the server settings? Thanks!

I have the same problem. Can’t update when server says there is an update available. And when I download the update from the web and install it manually, I still can’t get to “Server” in settings.

Did you customize the location of the Plex data folder on your server, away from the default?

I did customize the data location so maybe the change they mention in that article would’ve fixed my problem. I eventually fixed it by just removing all traces of Plex from my computer including all related registry keys - then installing it again.
This fixed the problem but with the obvious unfortunate side affect of losing all of my settings, metadata, and view history.
