Last week, I installed the Plex server on my Windows 10 system and everything was running just fine. The server was uninstalled in favor of another product which isn’t suitable. So, back to the Plex server. Installed the latest server from the Plex site today. Server starts OK and need to manipulate the settings, but have the dreaded “Server Settings are Unavailable” message. Tried many times, always same result. I’ve read through many other posts about this problem, and tried their tips but with no luck.
Went to the Logs folder and find there is just one log there - Plex Update Service.log. So, where to go from here? My requirements are simple: I just want to be able to run the Plex server with a music library and play the music on my TV system via Roku and the Plex app there. That app is installed and working, but doesn’t appear to find the Plex server when it’s running. As I mentioned, all this worked fine last week, but with this install nothing is working. PlayOn server and its Roku client work just fine. Where to go from here?
Yes, have signed out and back in - no change. Of course I know what an IP address is, but I have no idea what IP address PMS is using nor whether it’s dedicated to PMS, whatever that means.
No, didn’t delete the account. I thought I might be trying the server again later, so it made no sense to delete the account, especially since it was keyed to an email address. So, guess I’ll look around and try to determine how to delete the account.
OK - I deleted my account and got the warning about not being able to use the same email address for a new account for 30 days. I set up a new account with a different email address - that was successful. Then went to the Roku app and was told I had to go to play.tv/link to enter the new 4 digit code on the screen. Did that, and on the Roku was a message saying something had expired. I was then presented with another 4 character code and went to play.tv and entered that. Same thing repeated 5 times, clearly in a loop. I appreciate your attempt to assist me, but it’s pretty clear to me that Plex is not yet ready for prime time and I’m not going to spend any further time wrestling with it. I’ll continue to use PlayOn, with all its warts.
