Settings Unavailable

I don’t know where to begin, My server settings are unavailable. I’ve never had a proper server ever working as far as I can remember. I’ve only recently tried to make a Plex server proper because it has been a huge battle for me to get this to work.

So when I start up Plex on the web and I press “your media” and then press “Get plex server” and it redirects me to a link for the download which I have already installed… I have attempted to re download the app, repair, uninstall, re install, re start the computer.

So it wont acknowledge the plex media server that I have installed.
When I open up the Windows Desktop App Its the same story.

When I open the Plex Media Server app from my documents, and attempt to add a folder of media, or access the settings it just has the yellow caution triangle with a “!” in it and says “Server settings are unavailable.”

the part that gets me is that I have never successfully had a server on this computer. I have tried 2 or 3 times in the past, and always used the same email. But I always run into a problem where I cant access anything and its extremely frustrating.

I have read through alot of other posts where people havent had success fixing this issue, and I have attempted this post, Why am I locked out of Server Settings and how do I get in? | Plex Support and the “PlexOnlineHome” label wasnt anywhere to be seen but i deleted the other 3 listed and followed the instructions. but it didnt do anything and i dont have another email or is it assosicated with another account so it was not helpful.

Thanks i hope someone can tell me a quick fix soon because it looks like lots of people get no help with this scenario

Make sure to access the Plex Media Server using the bundled version of Plex Web in order to finish the setup and linking it to your account. If you’re working on the same machine, use http://127.0.0.1:32400/web — if you’re on a different machine inside your home network, use http://[PMS IP address]:32400/web instead.

If you had never finished the setup, this might bring up an assistant to do just that, allowing you to name your server, linking it to your Plex account and creating a first set of libraries.
If you ever did this in the past you should still be able to manage your server and access the server settings.

After you linked the server to your account (through the setup wizard or by signing the server into your account in Settings > [Server Name] > General), you’ll also be able to see/manage your server from other Plex apps (e.g. the desktop app or the hosted web app)

Thanks for responding!
I followed that link, it brought me to a similar page as before. it brings me to a blank home screen, on the left side my only option is a heading saying “MORE” with a yellow caution triangle with a !, when I open this it has a blank user profile pic, with a caution yellow triangle again. and “DESKTOP.” It has the three dots menu that says “Share, Scan library files, and Manage server.”
from manage server I can choose, settings, empty trash, optimize database, and clean bundles.
I’ve been here before and chose every option before I made my original post.

If I just click on the “DESKTOP” option, it pops up with saying;
“DESKTOP server is unclaimed and not secure
Claiming this server will associate it with your Plex account. This helps your devices find each other and helps keep your media safe.”
and an option to choose “Claim it now” or “Don’t show this again.”

I’ve pressed claim it now and it always brings me to a menu that doesn’t let me select anything from my “SETTINGS” or “MANAGE” headings. it always just brings up a triangle with an ! in it, and says " Server Settings are unavailable" that’s it, I cant do anything more because everything just brings that page up.
the “GENERAL” sub heading has a yellow triangle beside it in the menu, and below it, remote access has a red circle with an ! in it. but when I attempt to click them it just brings up the “SERVER SETTINGS ARE UNAVAILABLE.”

I never saw a set up wizard, or assistant, or any pop up helping me, or even a link to explain anything.

Can you share a screenshot of what you get to see if you click the claim it button?

The STATUS heading with Dashboard, Alerts, and Conversations I can access. although they don’t do anything helpful. Sync is unavailable.

Everything below the SETTINGS and MANAGE headers just show that screen “Server settings are unavailable.”

Here are the screenshots leading up to that page. The cursor is beside what I click to go to the next page.

Are your server logs showing anything substantial that might be pointing to an error/issue?
Given you cannot access the logs through the web frontend you’ll need to look them up in your file system – if you want to share them, best zip the entire log folder and upload the resulting file.
