First off, if this is in the wrong section, please feel free to movie it. Second, I searched the forums and could not find anything specific to my situation under the “Server Settings Unavailable” threads…
I am currently on my MacBook Pro however I, at home, I use a windows based system. I have recently created a “Plex Server” and have just purchased a monthly pass in order to try it out and decide if I want to continue. From the start I was unable to access my server outside of my network but was going to use the support articles to port forward my router once I got home to see if that would solve the problem. As I am currently at work, connected to my server through a relay, I was playing in the settings to see if I could fix it remotely. Unfortunately, while doing this, I inadvertently clicked on the “Port Forward” button in the server settings which promptly locked my out. How can I now revert back to being connected via your relay as every time I try to access my settings I get a message stating my server settings are unavailable.
Also, prior to the above problem, I was unable to access any videos, music or pictures on my PS4. I would show the Plex server however all the folders would appear empty despite them being full. The other odd issue was that the server was named something to the effect of “Plex - Main Computer” as apposed to “Plex - Grizz” which was the user name I picked. Any help would be greatly appreciated…
Cheers,
Dean
And now my server is completely gone!!! :# :#
What is the point in coming to the help forums if no one is willing to help??? So far, I love the support!!!
Hello and welcome to the Plex forums. Sorry you haven’t gotten a response.
Can you first describe what platform PMS is running on? What is the current remote access setup you are using (manual or automatic)? If manual, what are your router settings for port forwarding? If automatic, do you have UPnP enabled on your router?
Next, please describe your network setup so we can check if you are in a multi-NAT situation, which can interfere with remote access.

Thank you for your response, I really appreciate the help!!! Also, I am not 100% computer literate so you will have to excuse me while I try to answer your questions
If my platform you mean am I windows based or Apple based I am both. The main server runs on my Windows 10 PC however while away from my network I would like access it via my MacBook Pro and/or my iPhone.
I am not 100% sure what you are asking with reference to “What is the current remote access setup” however, if I am correct, I am using the automatic setup by default as I have not yet specified a port in my router as I am not sure how to do that.
As with the question above, this is where I start to not understand. I am not sure how to set “port forwarding” in my router. I tried a few google searches but nothing worked.
As for UPnP, I can’t seem to find where this is in order to enable it on my router
With reference to my “network setup” and a multi-NAT situation, I am not sure what you are asking so I can’t answer that question.
thanks again for your time and assistance!!
Please disregard my last post, after about three hours of reading and searching I ended up finding an article that helped me configure the proper settings. I can now access my server from outside my network.
That is awesome to hear. Glad you figured it out.
