At random, Plex server just loves to frustrate me to no end. I will access the server from my main computer through plex.tv, as normal, and it will tell me that the server is not available. This is funny, since the hard drives that house my server are on the very computer that says isn’t available!! Try reading through the forums and they are usually completely useless, since no one ever has the same problem as me. Look for an email for anyone at Plex for help…and they just don’t care at all and direct you to the useless forums. Doesn’t matter the update or the server version or anything, this problem is a random occurrence and will just all of a sudden fix itself after a couple days - and I didn’t change anything at all. I even went so far as to log directly into an “ip address”:32400/web/index.html, just to get it to log in. At that point, it tells me to claim the unclaimed server that it shows. I do this and it states, “no soup for you”, then procedes to let me have the soup with full access. Oh, and that ip address I use? It isn’t found anywhere on my network connected to any device, but it works.
If anyone knows how to correct this so that it no longer pisses me off, I would be forever grateful!
Please provide details of your setup (where the media is, network details, static up address of the hardware that holds the media, port forwarding setup, etc). I know you said your hard drives that have the server is on your computer but is that where the media is as well? I use a laptop as a server but all my media is on a NAS.
All of the media is located on an external harddrive attached directly to my pc, the server is installed directly to the c drive of the same pc. Funny thing happening now, is the address http://127.0.0.1:32400/web/index.html is now no longer working as well. Seems I am going to start using either Kodi, or Plex is trying to tell me it only works if you pay for it.
Nope. Funny enough, it keeps trying to all of a sudden force me to sign in with my email instead of my username…and I have never checked that option, but have turned it off multiple times, to no effect. The damn thing is full of Gremlins.
