Server unreachable

Server Version#: 1.28.2,6354-7000
Synology DS218+
I’ve been having issues recently with plex not being able to play movies etc from my media server. I’ve removed and re-added the libraries, confirmed Plex user has RW access to the media folders and still no luck.

After battling with this for a while, I decided to go with the nuclear option. I uninstalled Plex media server from my Synology NAS using the standard “uninstall” option in package manager. I then reinstalled Plex.

I am not getting “NOT AUTHORIZED - You do not have access to this server”.
I’ve gone through a few of the help articles, but have not had luck resolving this.

Any help is appreciated.

I looked at your account on Plex.tv.

I see where you had one server which was deleted.

When you reinstalled, did you use the Plex Claim Token method ?
If so, did it respond with “Claimed by: YourPlexUsername

I suspect Plex.tv is throttling you.

May I see your server logs?

Using FileStation:

  • Navigate PlexMediaServer/AppData/Plex Media Server
  • Right-Click: Logs
  • Compress to Logs.zip
  • Download that ZIP file
  • Upload/attach it here.

Thanks. I didn’t use a claim token. Can I go back and use the claim token method?

Here are the logs:
Logs.zip (93.9 KB)

Yes, you can go back and use the Claim Token method.

I don’t see any other errors in your logs.

Thanks! Reinstalling using the claim token method worked. I’m able to access my server.
Plex still isn’t seeing any movie files in the libraries I’ve added, but I’m assuming that takes time for the scan to complete?

@dez78

Is it scanning the media folders ?

Given you went the nuclear option , you will have to confirm privileges are there again and create new library sections.

You should see all the scanner activity in the upper right corner of the web browser

Scanning doesn’t appear to be doing anything. I’ve confirmed that the “Plex” user has R/W access to each of the media folders I’m re-adding.

After clicking Scan library files, activity appears to spike for a second then returns to normal. No errors or or warnings that I can see.

@dez78

Make certain it’s “PlexMediaServer” and not “Plex”. This is critical
(DSM 7 forced us to change username)

Plex is the only user I have available.

It’s in the “Create” dropdown window.

(This is how DSM 7 hides System Internal Users)
