I do not appear able to use Plexconnect if I select "Disable remote access" on my PMS. 

 

Is this just how it is?

I just shut it off on one of my local PMS (disable remote access) and PlexConnect is still picking it up as a local GDM and I can watch local content. Fill this out so everyone can assist you further:

Also list if you have any recent changes to your home network or PlexConnect host.

I just did the same, and it works. I then closed the PMS port on the router, and it still works.

I've either messed up somewhere, in which case I apologize profusely for the inconvenience, or the problem only shows up at some later time when a re-authentication attempt behind the scenes has failed.

Let's tentatively consider the issue closed. I'll post again if I re-encounter the problem.

That was quick: I revisited the PMS "Remote access" tab, got an exclamation mark on red background as I did so, and "PlexConnect: No Plex Library Sections Available" ensues.

I'll provide log details after work.
