Set my library as the opening view

When I open the new Plex, instead of being forced to click the Library button (or wherever else I would want to go), I would like the option to set my Library (or wherever else someone wants) to be the view that opens.

In some ways a “remember where I was when I closed Plex” could work, but that would mean you would open to say, the last film you watched or show.

I’d like to just default to my server/library tab as I have less zero plan to ever use any of the Plex streaming options. I use Plex for my library only, sorry.

Annoying to see that they still push Live TV even if you disabled it.

Ugh god you don’t even get to save the page you were looking at anymore. They force you to the junk-ass Recommended page for every library every time. Awful!

I can here to find out if there was anyway to get rid of the “Live”, “what’s on now” etc.. this new update is horrible.

Yes. Navigate to this page:
https://app.plex.tv/desktop/#!/settings/online-media-sources

Set “Live TV” to Disabled. While you’re there, set Movies & Shows and Discover Source to Disabled as well if you don’t intend to use those.

Then, close and re-open the Plex app.

This does not remove Live TV from the new app, instead taking you to a page complaining that you turned it off and suggesting you turn it back on.

It’s still there because those of us with OTA/cable tuners need it. But it removes all the Plex Live TV stuff from the home page (which was what the previous poster asked about).

It’s still there because those of us with OTA/cable tuners need it.

Okay, but when I turn off Live TV, I shouldn’t have Live TV as an option, not just a button that takes up 1/3 of the nav bar and complains that I don’t have it enabled. It should just go away, like I wanted it to.

Ridiculous! If we disable something it should not be there. It’s not there in the current app when disabled and shouldn’t be in the new app.

I see this as advertising by stealth. They are forcing a link in the app on the main home screen, advertising they have live TV.

We reported this behavior as a bug during testing… Sigh

Yes, months ago along with loads of other things. The whole feedback threads feels like gaslighting.

I wasn’t making a judgement as to whether it is good or bad, just stating why it’s still there. The original poster who asked about this wanted to know how to get rid of the Live stuff from the Home Screen. This is how (currently).

Again, ridiculous and misleading!

What you stated does NOT get rid of the live TV link. They have forced it into the apps home screen and it CURRENTLY cannot be removed.

It removes the “What’s on now,” “Guide” and other Live TV stuff from the home screen. Yes, the navigation button is still on the bottom of the screen and doesn’t serve a useful purpose, but the home screen is a lot less cluttered for it. And again, that was the question I was answering for the user who posed the question.

Ah come on. You are defending the inclusion of a button to something that’s been disabled and that it less clutter.

I give up and I’ll leave it there…

I’m not defending anything as I don’t really think there’s anything that’s in need of defense, not by me at least.

What I am doing is pointing out the factual implications of disabling the setting(s) I mentioned in my first post. The “What’s On Now” and “Today’s Live TV…” hubs are removed from the home screen.

The user asked how to remove them. I answered. It doesn’t need to be any more complicated than that.
