Setting up Plex Media Server gets Site Cannot Be Reached when attempting to Open Plex

Server Version#: 7.1-42661
Player Version#: none
I set up my new Synology DS920+ 4-bay 4GB DDR4 NAS with 2 Western Digital drives. I set up the Plex Media Server with no problem. I created a movies folder and set the Read/Write permissions for the PlexMediaServer user account. When I went to open Plex to complete the set up of the media server, I get a the site can’t be reached message. Early today it was a 400 Bad Request Error. Either way, I cannot complete the set up of my Plex Media Server. How can I correct this?

From a system on the same network as the NAS, point a incognito/private browser window at the IP address of the NAS.

For example, if the IP address is 192.168.1.2, http://192.168.1.2:32400/web

You cannot click on “open” in the Package Center, use Synology QuickConnect, use a hostname, etc. The incognito/private window is to disable any cookie cutters, ad blockers, or other browser plugins that might interfere with claiming the server.

Also, you must be local to the NAS. If you are not, you will need to use a SSH tunnel (See the On A Different Network section of Installation).

That worked!!! Incognito mode worked!!

Glad you have it working. Going direct to the IP address is only required for the initial claiming of the server.

You can now use https://app.plex.tv/desktop, etc to access the server for configuration and playing your media.

FYI, signing out of the server via Settings → Server_Name → General, removing it from Authorized Devices, or changing your Plex password returns the server to an unclaimed state. You’ll have to repeat the claiming process if you do any of those activities (your libraries are not removed, you just have to re-claim the server).
