Im new to plex (& NAS) but I installed plex on a Synology NAS and it gives me an ip address but when I click on it it just times out
Tried many times, rebooted, reinstalled Plex, gave plex permissions in NAS
Running windows 11, desktop, chrome
Synology model?
DSM version, 6 or 7?
What version of Plex Media Server did you install? 1.29.x.yyyy, 1.30.x.yyyy, etc.
What is the IP address of the NAS?
Use a PC on the same network as the NAS.
Use a private/incognito browser window.
Point the browser at the IP address of the NAS.
For example, if the IP address is 10.1.2.3, use http://10.1.2.3:32400/web.
Use http, not https. Also, :32400/web is important.
If things work correctly, you should be prompted to login to Plex Media Server and create media libraries.
Thank you for taking the time to answer, much appreciated
Synology Model: DS923+
DSM: 7.2-64570
Plex Server: 1.32.5.7349
Windows 11
Yes
tried Chrome Incognito : this site cant be reached too long to respond
I set this up exactly as you said. Triple checked the ip address, added what you said, tried on 2 different browsers. Definately tried with the http & added :32400/web
The NAS is working with the pc, doing backups, cloning the correct folders. Plex is the only thing not working. Would it help to do a fresh network connection to my pc?
I appreciate any further suggestions that you have
One capability the Plex installer has is built into the menus you see.
When you installed, did you choose a Normal installation or a ‘New or Lost servers’ option (Plex claim token method) ?
This option makes it easy for you to ‘claim’ (add to your Plex account) a new server.
It’s intended for those cases where the NAS networking isn’t configured as expected.
