Setting up remote access with very little computer knowledge

Hello!

I’m very new to plex, and while I’ve been trying to read up and troubleshoot myself I still have some questions regarding remote access.

So basically, when I enable remote access I get this message:

I enabled UPnP (whatever that is) and turned off my firewall with no change.
I tried making a manual port forward where i just put:

Which I believe is the correct way to do it, but I honestly have no idea.

When i manually specify the port i get this message:

(I’m just taking you through all the steps I did in case i messed up somewhere)

As I’ve come to understand I have an issue with double-NAT and it is something I need my ISP to sort out for me. I believe I have a private IPv4 rather than a public one. However, I’m not really sure what to ask of my ISP, as they can often be hard to deal with even when you know what you’re talking about.

Say I ask for, and get, a public IPv4 adress instead, should all my problems then be solved and remote access will work right out of the box? And also, will having a public IPv4 make a difference for me in other ways?

Sorry if the thread is redundant,
Thank you in advance.

I had the same problem, i had a double NAT,
My solution i asked my ISP to give me a static IP, where i live that cost extra per month.
After i got a static IP my remote access worked with no extra configuration on my part.
Hope that helps
