So I have been trying for several days to get Remote Access working on my Plex Server that is running on my Shield TV box.
I have a very unusual internet connection so let me try and explain it and what I have tried.
The Shield TV box in hardwired into a Cisco/Linksys E3000 that is setup as an AP/switch and is running DD-WRT. The E3000 is then hardwired back to a TP-Link Archer C1200 and connected to one of the LAN ports. The WAN port on the TP-Link C1200 is connected to a Ubiquiti NanoStation loco M2. The Loco M2 connects to my friend/neighbors house which has a Netgear Orbi mesh system. The Orbi mesh system is connected to a QPCOM Router which is his source of internet to his house.
I port forwarded the IP address of the Orbi system in the QPCOM Router and used the port numbers from my Plex server, I then port forwarded the IP of Loco M2 in the Orbi system and used the same port numbers from the Plex server, I then port forwarded the IP of… well you get the idea… all the way back to the E3000. This got it to say it was accesable from outside but as soon as I left that page and came back to it, it would show “Not available outside your network”. So then I tried to also add DMZ to all the devices using the IP of the device connected after it… this also would show " Fully accessible outside your network" until I left that page and when I return… the same " Not available outside your network" message… So I am at a loss now.
Thus why I have turned here to the forum.
I used to be an IT profession so I would say I am fairly apt at this stuff but as you can see by my network/internet connection above it is a bit complicated.
I also installed PMS on my Laptop and just WiFi connected direct to my neighbors Orbi and after make a few Port Forwards for my Laptops PMS I was able to get it working so I think it has to be in the Loco 2 or my routers.
Thoughts? Nightmares?
Thx, -DK
