Shield experience 9 upgrade, server dissapeared

@MovieFan.Plex

Here’s the media server log and I do see db corruption listed.
What’s interesting is I removed this PMS from the web app, cleared the data and cache and set it up from scratch. It worked for a day before it stopped totally.

Plex Media Server.zip (1.2 KB)

You need to delete both Plex and PMS from the Shield. Then download Xplorer if you don’t have it already and use it to find the PMS file (usually hidden somewhere in the device memory or an attached drive and delete it completely. Then restart Shield and download both Plex and Server from app store.

I deleted PMS again, and this time also connected my ext drive to my laptop and deleted the PMS files from it also and ran a disk check. PMS is running, rebuilding libraries.

Thx for pointing me in the right direction.

How do I sign up for the hotfix? I opened a case with Nvidia trying to get it and they wanted me to start debug mode, reproduce all the errors and submit them. I’m too frustrated to go through those steps right now.

Another report.

My server has been running without any issue for the last few days. 9.0.1 without any hotfixes and with disabled scheduled tasks. Scanning done manually through my phone pretty much every evening on selected libraries. I’ve added a bunch of new media and watched a whole lot, too.

Last evening I updated PMS to 5577. Today the Shield was unresponsive, stuck on the home screen without being able to do anything (effectively a screenshot of the home screen). One power cycle got it back to work. Let’s see how long it stays on this time. I can’t be sure 5577 is at fault but the fact is that it worked for almost a week and crashed less than 12 hours after the update so yeah.

Running hotfix 9.0.1 (9.0.2) for a couple days, and finding unresponsive Shield in morn. It runs scheduled tasks overnight. Updated PMS to 5577 yesterday evening. This morning, Shield wouldn’t even turn on. Had to pull plug to get it back. Now what?

Hi Guys, I am trying to understand if there is a solution here? ~1350 post later?

It’s quite frustrating that shield broke plex twice now…

Signup for Nvidia account if you haven’t done so and then follow the instructions on the Hotfix link and enter the serial number for your Shield. The Hotfix update will appear under your shield’s device update.

I did all the above. Ive been following since the beginning. Deleted all servers , plex server folder in xplorer, pms, and plex. Started from scratch, made sure everthing was updated, reboted a few times. I can change my settings to my external hard drive, but when I try to change my file path to scan my media, i can only get so far. I cant go deeper than my first level of my external drive. This doesnt allow me to get to my movies or tv shows folder on .my external drive. I hope this makes sense. Anybody have this issue?

new PMS update installed

still no DLNA and very slow file transfer speed to server

Might be too late now, but do you happen to still have the older PMS logs? We’ve seen a few reports of corrupted databases and I’m trying to see if there is something in older logs before the corruption to indicate what might be contributing to that.

You need to add the media path via computer web browser on Plex setting. There you probably need to delete old server that are no longer available to avoid confusion.

Running Version 1.25.6.5577 of PMS and the latest hotfix (9.0.2) from Nvidia on a 2017 Shield and had no issues at all surprisingly, well nothing that’s affected me just yet. Network transfers speeds are a lot slower copying over content but that’s about it.

Was worried when my Shield auto-updated about a week ago but all seems good right now.

Is this the new normal? Every morning I have to pull the plug?

ive got 9.0.1+ hotfix and newest player and PMS. after rebuilding my libraries and deleting old servers, it worked fine for a few days, then went offline again. weird that it worked from local network, but not remote. after a reboot, it started working again. considering having it not work at all (local or remote), i dont mind a reboot every couple days. hope a permafix comes soon.

So has everyone else had to give up on overnight tasks because it breaks ext hdd connectivity?

No, all tasks working fine now with Shield 9.0.1+Hotfix (also known as 9.0.2) and latest PMS 1.25.6.5577.

The main issue was the NTFS and exFAT support on Shield which is now fixed.
