9.0.2 fixes a lot of the issues other than the occasional freezes and bugs. You’ll need to sign up for the hotfix, I believe is number 4… the first one after the last official update. They make you sign up for new hotfix after every official update if you want them. The last hotfix dropped last week
Pure speculation on my part. I have an HDHomeRun Prime with Spectrum (formerly known as Charter) cable. Since it has my entire cable listing, Plex will show it’s downloading an obscene amount of guide info, usually something in the 40k+ range, because I have 251 channels enabled. My guess is if I had an OTA tuner instead, less guide info would be downloaded, resulting in less read/writes to my external drive and less likely to cause external exFAT drive issues.
Once again, pure speculation. I wish I had time to help troubleshoot more. I have a newborn at home so my troubleshooting has been reserved to mostly testing new firmware/apk releases to see if they improve Plex Server reliability. I would love to dig into the logs and see if I could help determine what is happening, beyond purely speculating.
The only way would be to restart your server. Force stop the client and server apps. Clear the data on PMS. then start the client app. You should be asked to setup PMS again. If, not see if you have the option to start it from the settings.
I’m on Experience 9.0.1, and just signed up this morn for the hot fix cuz my drives are disconnecting still. So I just checked my Shield, and there’s “9.0.1+Hotfix” waiting for me, but there’s also Experience 9.0.2 available. Which should I go with?
Been running 9.01+Hotfix now for a few days without any issues. Running PMS 1.25.3.5448. It seems stable and I’ve added a lot of content over the last 2 days. Also switched back on the scheduled tasks and it seems to be getting through these. Again without any issues.
Therefore I have switched off auto update for all apps through play store (sticking with current PMS and client until they break) and have switched off auto upgrading the shield system using settings on the shield. I don’t plan to update anything until it stops working!
External media storage on USB NTSF drive directly on the shield.
I’m running the last official update for both PMS and Shield OS, and my PMS freezes every couple of hours and I need to unplug / plug it again to get it to work.
Is my understanding correct that:
There’s a new Shield OS hotfix (9.0.1+ or 9.0.2).
This update, along with the latest PMS solves this regularly freezing issue?
Installed the 9.0.1 hotfix this morning. It shows in settings as 9.0.2. So far no external hdd disconnections.
Features of the update stated …“Fixes a CEC issue where Shield won’t go to sleep”. I had to turn off CEC. a couple months ago, but it was because after it would go to sleep it would randomly wake up and take over the TV/Receiver.
Yes, PMS 1.25.3.5577 is the official version from the app store. PMS 1.25.3.5448 had to be sideloaded. PMS 1.25.3.5577 worked better for my application whereas PMS 1.25.3.5448 kept crashing on me. I haven’t had any issues with .5578 since install 3 days ago and counting. Someone “gbballpack” did mention “It appears 1.25.3.5575 does not work as well with the updated Paragon filesystem driver as 1.25.3.5448 does”. I do not have that issue. I hope this helps.
Installed the 9.0.1 hotfix yesterday, but not the 5577 PMS. Had to pull plug this morn for unresponsive Shield ( black screen, no access from other devices, etc etc). Will try PMS update later today.
I’ve been lurking here waiting for the magic fix and ready to give up. Seems best option is to factory reset. If I factory reset and rebuild, will I be able to upgrade Shield to the last workable version 8, or will I have to stay at the original factory version?
Issues: Plex loses connection to media on the USB drive external storage nearly every day.
LiveTV with Hauppauge WinTV-dualHD seldom works any longer
LiveTV will sometimes work with basic sound channel, but stutters and halts with English 5.1 channel.
ShieldTV 2017 sw 9.0.1. Plex is 1.25.3.5575
You need to sign up to receive the 9.0.1+ Hotfix and update to the latest Plex Media Server 1.25.3.5577. Mine has been going strong without any issues since last week.
Shield Pro 2019 Sw ver 9.0.2(33.1.0.291)
Plex Media Server ver. 1.25.6.5577 (smb)
Plex Client ver. 8.30.0.30944
I applied the latest Shield system upgrade sent out a few days ago and once again PMS does not appear in the Plex client app. So, I signed up for 9.0.1 + Hotfix, got it,… still no change.
PMS is completely broken again.
I’m not totally dead in the water. I didn’t upgrade my 2017 Shield so it’s still running on the earlier hotfix and side loaded PMS (.5448).
On the latest Nvidia hotfix release (9.0.1 +hotfix 1) aka 9.0.2(33.1.0.291) and Plex Server Version 1.25.6.5577.
Still having problems with EPG guide info completing overnight for my HDHomeRun Prime. From my understanding, 1.25.6.5577 introduced a bunch of changes to the way Plex handles DVR guide channels. I am reconfiguring the DVR from scratch and hopefully, I will see positive change overnight.
For whatever reason, PMS 1.25.3.5448 did not have these same issues with the EPG guide info update not completing overnight.
