Noticed, past 1-2 months, stuttering at about every 15minutes watching 480i/480p on shield. If I hit the back 10s button, I think it is 10s, whatever it is, the stuttering stops and all is well for about 15mintues.
No problem with 1080/2160 stuttering.
the server and shield are uptodate.
I tried combinations with both players, no change.
In case someone wants to question my setup even thought 2160 works with no problems, wired.
lastly, this was not happening about 1 or so months ago. it seems to correlate with the plex shield update–when I manually updated it, but resetting the shield did not solve the problem. I do not watch 480 as much, so I am guessing when this started. I know, however, I was not watching xfiles stuttering more than 2 months ago.
what can cause oddly spaced stuttering for 480i but not 2160? I tried to figure it out, so maybe someone here has an idea.

as stated, I tried combinations of both players, i.e., the problem does not go away using plex on the shield both players.
also, I mentioned the shield plex client is uptodate, whatever version that is per play store. I went back to the initial plex client on the shield and the problem continued. irritatingly. I then, using playstore, updated the client.
I do not understand why a sample of video is relevant. as mentioned, these files do NOT stutter using kodi from the server machine. they also do not stutter in vlc. And I will add, again, they did not stutter 2ish months ago. try any 480i/480p file that is healthy, not using plex shield, and you will have your sample. the primary containers are standard, mkv and mp4.
the logs, when I get the time I will see what I can see with the logs. I have not made an effort to see if the logs suggest a problem. my mistake. if I think something there, I will post.
this is a plex on My shield problem for 480p/480i, not 1080/2160. I am surprised no one else is noticing this problem, so it must be something wrong on my end yet no changes except an update to the shield.
I see nothing obvious when the stuttering starts both from the client logs and server. the only logging I found for the client was network, however. if there is another way to log client issues, I have yet to find it.
info put the screen at the test time for logging: exoplayer v2 direct play. nothing new.
I am dropping this lost cause; I will use kodi for dvd. the files wok on everything else I have tried, so I have NO clue and have not the time to fight with plex on the shield.
