Basically I wanted to be able to watch the end credits and scenes for the upcoming episode, at the end of the video. But when the end credits begin, it shrinks the video down to a thumbnail and shows the up next video and on deck videos, and you cannot see the subtitles anymore and if I try to select the playing video with the end credits, it goes to full screen for 1-2 seconds at most then jumps back to a small thumbnail again.
On desktop this is so much better, it stays fullscreen the entire time to the last second, with only a “skip credits” toggle, like the “skip intro.” I just want to be able to watch the entire episode including credits without being interrupted by the Post Play screens, is there a way to do this on the Shield, or at least get the playing video back fullscreen again?
Thanks! Do you happen to know if disabling the end credit detection in the library would change this behavior? Perhaps that’s a solution if it no longer jumps to the Post Play screen at the start of the credits?
And would disabling the end credit detection while this is being fixed cause all the data to be erased - thus needing to re-scan all the files, or would it be saved for when I re-enable it?
Just hit the same issue. Automatically shrinking the video is undesired behavior and should be optional. Netflix used to do that long ago and they abandoned it, probably for good reason.
I don’t know if it’s hardware related, but if anything they just should leave it fullscreen to the end and overlay the up next thumbnail, and have clicking start it.
That or have the skip credits like on a desktop which leaves it fullscreen.
But I think they’re quite sold on the whole Post Play setup, so I don’t see that changing myself, which would be ok - if I was able to go back to fullscreen by hitting left and selecting the credits.
There’s also a weird bug with it that if you fast forward into the credits a bit further (like to 60 seconds remaining instead of 90 where it jumps to the Post Play screen) - it will stay fullscreen but you lose the ability to navigate forward or back or see the controls, you can only back out of the video.
Right now you cannot remove the credit markers without doing the plex dance to remove all metadata and add it back. As far as the other suggestions afaik we do plan to have an option to ignore the credit markers and behave like previously but I do not have an ETA on that. I will pass along your other feedback
If/when there is an option to ignore the credit markers, I hope it’s user or app controlled, not server controlled. My preferences may not be what users’ preferences are.
Thanks - good to know. And I actually am pretty ok with the shrinking etc, I just want the option to go back and make it fullscreen, which seems intended since I can do that, just currently it just re-shrinks the video a second later again, each time I select it from the Post Play screen.
Hate the fact that it shrinks it. Just awful and hated it when I had Netflix years ago. Hope this is addressed quickly with a toggle. It should have been toggled as opposed to rolled as a forced feature from the beginning. Hopefully the devs are listening as these “features” are hopefully toggled in the future. Neat idea but not for everyone.
I know you may be only talking about the shrinking nature but if you disable this, I’m told it should remove the shrinking but will also remove skip button.
The thing is it doesn’t happen on Desktop. So in theory End Credits is great there, you just get a little bubble of “Skip Credits” in the corner, like you do with the intro. Wish it was also like that on Android, but I just really hope they can fix this bug ASAP, because basically my entire library of shows is now broken with this feature on and the shrinking video.
BigWheel’s setting change above puts it back the way it was. It works the way I want it now. The ability to skip the end credits would be nice but not if you have to sacrifice the ability to watch it until the actual end in fullscreen.
For me, when the player window shrinks if I click on the enter/OK button on the remote then the player window expands to normal again. Same behavior on Fire Stick.
That all said, I agree the best solution is to display a “skip credits” button. All the other clients I test have that (web, Windows desktop, Roku, Xbox).
On Android, apparently the only time a “slip credits” button is shown is when there is a mid-credit scene (like on most MCU movies), and pressing the button will skip to that scene.
I have a few videos that it will go back to fullscreen on, but it seems random. I encode a lot of my content from blu ray myself, and some of my encodes will return, but others won’t. And by others I mean like most videos. Not sure if it has to do with subtitles or what, but even if I turn them off it still usually won’t go back. It’s mainly shows I have the problem with, movies wouldn’t bother me as much.
And it does seem like I’m not the only one with the issue (videos unable to go fullscreen), so for now I’ll just hope that the bug as it has been said is fairly obvious and will eventually get corrected.
Can confirm this happens on 2017 and 2019 Shield. Shrinks/minimizes the window and if you click on it to watch the credits it instantly re-minimizes and refuses to let you watch them.
