Shield TV Pro is slow and unresponsive in Plex

I got a Shield TV Pro recently and for the most part it’s the best 4K streaming device I’ve used. But in Plex I’m having a lot of issues. They may not be specific to Plex, but it’s the only app I use on it.
From time to time the system will totally freeze requiring a hard restart.
Often, just about every day I use it, there are times that it will take 5 seconds, to over a minute for the system respond to a button press on the remote. If I’m patient it will eventually sort out whatever the problem is and will go back to mostly normal, if not a little slow, operation.

Also I have the same issue as another user posted here.

I’d like to use the server capabilities to run a backup server, but can’t imagine how that would work given the performance issues.

Any suggestions?

You and me both buddy. Plex just freezes and locks up, and can’t find a reason or solution to this problem.

Your not clear on weather Plex Server or Plex Client that your having an issue with.

Are you referring to me or Plex_n_Chill?
For me, it’s definitely the Plex client on the Shield. A force quit of the Plex app always resolves the issue. None of my other Plex clients have issues like this.

Are you running a beta or the official from the Play store? Might try a different version.

Running the official from the play store. Do you have to side-load the beta, or do you sign up for Beta access in the Play Store?

I download it and copy it over to the shield. You can enable network access in shield and then you can access it \IP Address from a Windows machine.
