Should I wait to setup my new Xbox One due to the current state of Plex?

I currently have an Xbox 360 and the Plex app works flawlessly. Aside from missing features that I desire, everything works great. I picked up an Xbox One while it was on sale during the holidays but now I’m reluctant to set it up since the Plex app seems to have this dimming screen bug and hasn’t received the new features that the 360 app has.

What say you? Should I wait until the fix is pushed through? I’m starting to jones for some new Xbox One games LOL!

Why would you wait? Do you only have enough HDMI slots to support one at a time?

The Plex app has a few glitches and qwerks, but nothing is a show stopper. The dimming bug pops up for me every now and then, but its as easy as going to the home screen and closing the app to fix it.

Don’t wait.

I haven’t experienced the dimming glitch yet. The only issue I have is with stuttering/pausing on 1080 movies. Even that, I’m narrowing in on the cause. (Files that are stored on machines on my network other than directly on my pms machine are the only ones that don’t work)

Plus, it’s very cool to say “Xbox, go to plex”

I haven't had the dimming bug as yet on my, although the dimming itself irritates me (probably more than it should). I personally love my xbox one, between games and netflix, plex was icing on the cake. Before the Plex app came out I was using a raspberry pi to pass my library through the hdmi in using the tv app so the xbox has been the center of my living room entertainment since I got it.

I did have the dimming bug. It was a simple restart, which can be done from settings so you don't have to unplug the xbox. Other than that I have had no problems. I would set up and enjoy.

Trailers and media index files(so you can see images as you ff or rw, this worked in prev version before update) are having issues but besides that those are the only nice I’ve experienced in xbox one

Thanks for the input guys.  I just might jump the shark and set it up this week after all, throwing caution to the wind.  I don't have any spare HDMI ports, else I would run the two side by side for a while.  Anyway, thanks for the encouraging words!

Haha I think you used "jump the shark" in the wrong context, but none the less, the xbone preview app is decent. I only experienced the dim glitch once and i've had the app since it was released.

Dont wait..

I absolutely love the Plex app on the XB1... I have not seen any real issues at all

Due to ongoing dimming (in spite of reboots, etc), absolute lack of subtitle support, and a new problem of thumbnails turning grey and blank, I say wait.

I've stopped using it on my XB1, it's THAT bad.

You could always plug in your 360 into the HDMI in of the XBone if you don't like the One app.

That's... actually a great idea! Thanks!

Yes as it seems plex is ridden with holes atm… I just get over the dimming issue and another issue arises. Now every 15 sec the movies will freeze… Will be taking away my payments and going back to my mac mini with plex

You can just quit the app using the three lines button from the homescreen rather than having to restart the Xbox =)
