I have kind of a strange situation with a show. Love Island (2015) on TheTVDB had very poorly named episodes for season 4. A kind soul updated them on TheTVDB and Sonarr was able to find this and fix the files with a rename. Plex doesn’t seem to care though.
You could try amending your file structure slightly to comply with the format in the below article. Moving Local Media Assets to the bottom of the agent list may also help. And last resort would be the Plex Dance.
And also:
If something was recently changed at thetvdb it takes some time until this is reflected in Plex, since Plex uses its own server/proxy to cache access to thetvdb. So maybe try again tomorrow.
Thought I would chime in for anyone searching (as I did). Clearing the cache as listed above by @OttoKerner and then restarting the Plex Media Server and then doing a “Refresh Metadata” worked perfectly for me on a stubborn show that would pull only the title but the season info, nor any descriptions never pulled.
