I feel as though maybe i missed something in an update? It used to be that each season of a TV show would have a different image, and then when opening a season i’d see the episode names, but that hasn’t happened in awhile. I’ve attached images as an example to show what my plex is showing, this has actually been happening for about a year now.
The one thing I noticed when this stopped was that my selection of agents for finding mismatched shows had seemed to be reduced. I checked for one i had remembered and it was gone. I dont remember which it is but there appears to be plenty in the list now but still i dont get all the information i used to get. Everything comes in great for movies, but TV shows are severely lacking!
Since this has happened, i’ve rebooted the server probably 100 times for general maintenance, updates, and all sorts of things. I had ransomware hit the server at one point and had to reinstall Plex completely, recovered my media and got it all set back up but still, nothing came back.
Ideas? Thoughts?
Here you can see that both seasons have the same art. I have other shows with over 10 seasons that used to have different art for each season but they are all the same.
Here you can see that each episode is named “Episode #”. It didnt used to be this way. Ratings and everything, descriptions and all, its all gone! I feel kinda like the guy in the picture looks… haha
I have many TV shows and its always worked fine. I have a folder specifically for TV shows that brings up TV shows in a section called TV shows (whew).
In that folder is a folder named after the TV show, within that folder is folders named: Season 1, Season 2, Season 3, etc… and the files are named: {Show Name} S##E##.ext (where ext = whatever extension the video file is, typically mkv or mp4).
Using this naming convention, Plex always brings up the correct images so i know its finding the right files and matching them to the right shows, but its not grabbing anything else. I’ve been using plex for several years now and have never had a problem. Is adding the episode name something that is required now? Is that the thing i missed in an update?
I’ll try the other things you mentioned, but i truly dont believe my naming is the problem, but the others could provide some solution.

So far so correct.
Are the affected files in the mp4 file format?
If so, this change could be useful:
Go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.
Repeat the same under
Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheMovieDatabase
+
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - Plex Movie
+
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
Ok done, i only had to change the agent in the shows section for TheTVDB, the local media options were turned off in the others.
I followed the steps exactly and have attached the logs. Debug logging was already on (not verbose). Do you think the cert error from the other thread you are helping me in might also be a part of the issue? I have one TV show that has all the meta data in it and its one of the last few shows i’ve added, but its the only one.
I’ve tried Plex Dance and several other things and nothing is working. I’ve got some other issues too, such as the one where i cannot even browse to Plex on my Plex server. I’ve decided to completely remove it and re-install it but i’ll make a new post for the one issue i have with this.
