Since Control Of Sonos Speakers Has Been Added, Ive lost PLEX features

So since the previous update that the PLEX iOS app allows you to control the selection of Sonos speakers in my home, I have noticed many things.

  1. You can only select one speaker at a time. there is no ability to group or control the volume of individual Sonos speakers on my network.

  2. Smooth fades is gone, and no longer a selection available to me in the PLEX iOS app

  3. Volume Equalizing is also gone and no longer a available inside the PLEX iOS app

Previous to the last update I had full control over the Sonos speakers in my home through the airplay built into OS and it work FANTASTIC. Now is seems most of the functionality I love about the iOS PLEX app is gone.

Is there any way to disable the Sonos handshake? I would like to use my PLEX iOS app as I did before.

NOTE : I do have the Sonos app installed on my iPhone … If that should make any difference?

Any assistance would be appreciated. I love my PMS and all its able to do and this is the first time since i can’t remember when where then experience is downgraded when I updated. Im hoping that there is a way to disable the handshake to my Sonos speakers and they can be controlled through the built in airplay as it was before.

Many thanks in advance for any help someone can offer.

With the launch of casting to Sonos you still have the option of using AirPlay if you have compatible speakers. You can use the AirPlay icon in the cast selector (in the row with This iPhone) or from Control Center or the lock screen controls.

Smooth fades and volume equalizing are features provided by the enhanced music player in the iOS app, which is why those features do not apply when casting to Sonos.

Thanks so much @johnclayton … Several hours later I was able to separate out the Sonos speakers that appear in my PLEX iOS app, and also, when I selected the option to play on my iPhone, and then choose the airplay icon, I was able to control it that way and get back the features.

Thanks so much for your reply, and help and have a great day

I recently acquired a Sonos speaker. Can cast from Android phone. Based n this topic does it mean with Android you would be unable to cast to groups (if groups defined in Sonos app?) when adding more speakers.

Also, no gappless or volume normalization unless via Airplay? Will these features ever come to Adroid?
