I’m a doctor not a tech nerd and don’t understand much of the detail. But ever since I purchased Plex past subscription and updated to the latest version, the entire appearance of Plex changed. It used to be I could only used Plex media player with the keys on my keyboard. All of the movies were arranged in a single area alphabetically five movies across and I would scroll down. Now the movies are arranged alphabetically and there may only be one or two movies in that letter of the alphabet. This is not a problem but when I start the movie I can no longer fast-forward to the scene I want using the keyboard I have to use the mouse. I used to be able to fast-forward to any scene I wanted (which is something I enjoy doing just watching a short section of my favorite scenes). Now I have to use the mouse but if I to move forward if I click too many times it’s just freezes the whole program in the movie. I can’t back up I can’t wait it out I have to shut down Plex altogether and restart. One time I had actually restart the computer. The only way I seem to be able to successfully move the mouse towards the part of the movie I want is to start at the beginning while the movie is playing and click one or two minutes at most at a time and even then I can’t do it too fast or it will freeze again.
Again I’m a doctor so if you been shot I know what to do but I’m not very computer oriented. I just use the Plex media player nothing else not the server or anything fancy. So I need simple instructions I don’t understand what a lot of the terms are the people use when I read the frequently asked questions or the forum. I’m sorry and if I just had the free version I wouldn’t mind as much but I paid to have the full version but I need to know how to use it.
I apologize for not knowing as much is you guys but I bought a home theater computer from assassin HTPC. It’s a very high-end computer with RAID storage Windows 10 Pro, they have always helped me with software support in the past and they recommended plaques. They recently had me purchase a Plex pass and I have my username and password for that. Recently they went out of the home theater computer business so I don’t have anybody that can help me with these issues. I’m trying to understand a little more about Plex HTPC as suggested. Do I just download and install it? Will my Plex past automatically be attached to it? I’m sorry if I’m not a real computer nerd but I am a big enthusiast and of always liked your product but I’ve never had it not work before. This all started after the latest update where the appearance of the movie library changed. All I’m trying to do is get Plex to work properly. I don’t even know how to tell you what I have other than to tell you that they told me it was not the Plex server it was the Plex media player. I’m not sure what the term client software even means when you suggested that I try the Plex HTPC is a client software. Again in simple English do I just downloaded onto the computer and see what happens? Do I have to uninstall the Plex that I have before I do that? Are all the steps explained when I go to download Plex HTPC? I haven’t answered for a couple months because I’ve had problems with my back and now had surgery. I’m hoping this is the kind of forum where I can ask questions and go back and forth fairly quickly with answers while I do my best to follow your directions. I would be more than happy to pay somebody to help fix this for me but I don’t know who to ask. The computer was $2500 I have a very high-end system but most of it is do-it-yourself in terms of installation and things. It’s always run very well until just now.
Again I guess question number one is do I just look online for something that says Plex HTPC and download that and see what happens? Is there a chance that will screw anything up? At that time if it installs is the Plex past associated with it automatically? Just so you know all I want to do is be able to playback the movies that I have stored on the hard drive, I’m not trying to use it do anything fancy pirate videos I’m just trying to use it as a media player for copied DVDs that I have.
Thanks in advance for understanding, again I’m in enthusiast but I’m only smart about doctor stuff. And I am dead serious I would be happy to pay somebody any reasonable fee you want if they can fix this either over the phone or was something like team viewer.
