I’ve got a M1 Mac mini that has the Plex Server on it. I’ve never had an issue till this summer and now any movie I download and put on my hardrive/Plex starts pixelating and having the audio not match up w the video etc when I try to watch it. BUT every movie I have in my library before I started having issues plays just fine. even took a movie off my brothers hard drive and put it on a flash drive and put it on my hard drive and it played just fine. So strange. any help would be amazing please and thank you. It’s driving me nuts
Videos encoded in x265/HEVC are becoming far more common nowadays, but it’s a video encoding technique that isn’t well supported by a lot of devices. If it’s not supported by the player, Plex will transcode the video into one that is supported by all its players: x264/AVC.
The first thing you should do is check the codec of all your new media, and compare that against the media you had before summer. Is the codec different? Is the bitrate of the video different? Is the video of a lower (480p) resolution?
