Skip intro unable to select after initial disappears

For tv shows with skip intro when it first disappears after not selecting it, and when bringing up the OSD with the play and pause button, and have that disappear to show skip intro again, it is not selectable.

Currently using Android tv beta 8.30.0.30889-beta

This is fixed in the latest 8.31.0.31102-beta. Thank you

Really? Well, it was fixed for me too for all of 5 minutes, now it’s broken again.

Honestly though, the only impression I get is that Plex has given up on its core product in favor of game streaming or whatever other new fad has taken their interest. Like this new obnoxious, “Discover” screen to select streaming services instead of fixing the countless number of bugs, crashes, and outright poor coding whether it’s the media server, Android TV client (the most bug-ridden), or Windows Desktop client.

TV episodes don’t get marked as played, and when you mark them as played they won’t stay marked as played. (Already rebuilt my collection, my media server, metadata, and everything else… Doesn’t fix or improve it)

Often, selecting a subtitle crashes the player.

Sometimes even searching for a subtitle causes the player to crash too.

Some shows when you press rewind, it fast forwards. And then – in that same instance – when you fast forward, it fast forwards (so basically there’s no way to rewind).

Occasionally episodes of a show are marked as played without being watched.

When you’re past the certain point where the episode is considered, “watched” and you try to rewind, it crashes the player and wants to go play the next episode.

To be honest, there are so many Android TV bugs (all of the ones above) that I can’t even remember the rest. I’d say I covered maybe half, above.

Theb there’s the fact that the Plex client for Windows crashes on my laptop shortly after starting to play anything, no matter what I do… Reinstall Windows, reinstall Plex, upgrade my audio and video drivers, reinstall my cat, format my dog.

I know, this sounds like a rant (because it is) that is negative and unhelpful. But personally, I think it is helpful: it demonstrates that Plex is starting to lose its way. I agree that every company that doesn’t diversify, dies. However, when that diversity kills the success of your core product which supports the livelihood of your company, you’ll die anyway.

Plex, PLEASE, PLEASE PLEASE, fix your Android TV bugs. Please fix the edge cases (after all, you’re supposed to be one of the – if not THE – most mature products in your category). Please focus on quality over quantity. Please focus on what you do well while slowly expanding in other things.

I love Plex. Really, I do. And it hurts me so much that I can no longer take pride in showing my friends how awesome it is when they come and visit me. I’m only embarrassed now; embarrassed that I’m using some trash program that can’t even get through two episodes without some major problem requiring my intervention. I’ve had to stop watching TV shows and movies with them.

Sincerely,
A devoted fan.
